DLC Lifter break-in success. Budget 440 build.

I tried a set of the Comp DLC hyd lifters on a 440 build I put together with some spare parts I had laying around.

Will do, I used some in a sbc that have about 4k miles on it….no issues so far.

Thanks, we know the name but this would not be the first time that a product had a great name but didn't meet the hype.
I do hope that these things work out not only for the OP, but everyone else as well.

I used to like breaking in engines with no mufflers but later found out that a quiet exhaust was better to actually hear what was going on in the engine itself.....

Exactly…couldn’t wait to take them off and hear it uncorked. I wiped a cam out on break-in a couple years ago so always use mufflers now so I can shut her down at the first “tick”.

WTF??? Hydraulic lifters set is $114 and solid lifter set is $2000? What is Comp smoking?

For that price difference I'll make the hydraulics solid...

The solids are tool steel... I was hoping they made a solid set at the price of the hydraulics...

I was cruising Comps site when they popped up, I was surprised at the price… they were less than Chevy lifters. Though I would give them a shot since I don’t have hardly any money in the engine.

Depending on the spring pressure, that’ll be a win or a disaster lol
