i had a vibration, took the drive shaft to the shop and had it balanced. he stated it appeared the bushing in the 727 was worn. The seal was intact and not leaking though, i did order a new yoke and it seemed the drive shaft was too short based on how much of the old yoke was sticking out of the trans. Checked this website and found a chart that stated the drive shaft in a 1966 Belvedere with a poly 318/727/8 3/4 combination should be 55.42". The shaft in my car is 51" and with the new yoke we measure 51 5/8. (Yoke pulled out of trans 1" and car on the ground) any thoughts or if anyone has a 66 Belvedere with this combination that could shed some light on the situation I would appreciate it.

According to the 1966 Chrysler Parts Catalog:

The length of the driveshaft in a 1966 Belvedere, except station wagon, with 318 engine, A727 transmission, and 8-3/4" rear axle is 51.28 inches.

The 55.42 inch length corresponds to a Belvedere with a 273 engine and A904 transmission. The A904 is shorter than the A727.

Those numbers in post #5 are wrong.
You won't get a 55" driveshaft to go in that car, too long.

51.5" is the right length

Sorry for the duplication, your measurement comes up in this chart here, Not sure what the 745 refers to?

And you are correct it would be too long, there is also a 3/4 inch steel disk as part of the front yoke portion of the drive shaft, any idea what that is for?

Harmonic balancing.

745 is a 3 speed transmission
