Good morning, I have been on the hunt for an answer to the question of if a 1971 GTX/ RR/ or Satellite could be ordered with an air grabber hood, could it also be ordered with AC? It seems like there are several "restored" cars that have an air grabber and AC, so I know they can be retrofitted at the least, but all seem to use a modern AC compressor and was wondering if the factory just relocated them with a different type of compressor with an air grabber hood.

I am not 100% but I "believe" that you could have both. I have looked at option books and have not seen any "caveat" where in if you checked off air grabber you could not get AC (or the other way around). The same is not true with some of the other options like if you ordered tilt column you could only get a AT on the column (no manual or floor shift).

You could not have both from the factory because the AC compressor hits the air grabber base. If you looked at any with both, one or the other were added and the base plate was trimmed.

A/C was not available with a fresh air hood on any models 69-72.

Except Challengers in late 70 and early 71 with optional N94 fiberglass "T/A" hood AND 4bbl carb (340-4, 383-4, 70 only 440-4)

Those combinations could have fresh air hood and A/C because the 4 bbl fresh air base was smaller diameter and the A/C compressor could fit with the air cleaner. Dan Pausch has a 1970 Challenger 383-4 N94 "T/A" hood car with A/C.

A definite odd ball though.

But is about the air cleaner or the Ram/grabber hood attachment?.

Because on the Monteverdi HAI 450 SS we got this:

Can’t find a pic of the 440 on the GTS version.

Pretty sure the original RV2 won’t fit with the Ram/Grabbed hood attachment, but can’t find the air cleaner size makes difference being the box underneath the hood the same?

I don’t know how it looks the E body system thought

The air cleaner.

I’ve seen the Hai in person. The long oval air cleaner base is cut.

The 4bbl T/A cars have a round air cleaner top and base.
