Greetings,

Can a stock 1963 Chrysler 413 crank (from a New Yorker) be swapped/used in any later 440 block?

I was going to rebuild the 413 and just got the bad magnaflux news. Cracked. = boat anchor. :elmer:

Now I'm looking for a 440 block to continue building a motor so I was wondering if it would fit right in?

:thankyou:

The 413 crank will drop in as it has the same main size as the 440. Just order 440 parts as they are the same.

Yes it will fit, however it is most likely balanced for pistons which weigh different than your stock 440 pistons. If you will be using pistons much different than the stockers you will need to rebalance anyway. If you know what the 413 pistons weighed and your new pistons are heavier, you can remove some weight from the pin end of the rods or the wristpin itself to compensate. If new pistons are lighter, then weight must be removed from the cranks counterweights. Maybe you already know that though. Good luck.
