This past weekend went out to Rockingham Dragway for the last Modern Street HEMI Shootout race of the year with Mopars at the Rock.
In the good air, (+500 DA) made my best pass to date . 9.38@ almost 142. That was Friday at track rental. Saturday was bracket race and qualifying for 9.50 index race.
Had the bye into 3rd round of bracket race.
Did my burnout and the car stalls on the line. Tried starting for what seemed like 5 minutes..
Took my helmet off and slammed it down. I heard the announcer say " get that thing started, you're on the clock.
Flooded it in the process but it seemed it lost spark.
I finally shut down all the switches and tried again. It finally started. I broke the beams and went back to the pits. In the dark, I really couldn't find anything wrong. It started back up so I went up for the 4th round. It couldn't run the number so I was done. It seemed like it fouled up. I don't know...
In the mean time, 9.50 qualifying went well.
I got number 1 qualifier for Sunday.
Sunday was warmer and I knew I was in trouble. It got to 81 degrees and there was a 30 mph headwind.
N/A with a giant hoodscoop wasn't ideal for conditions running against blower cars with 10 mph on me.
I had a first round bye and ran 9.58@ 138. I knew it wouldn't cut it so I took a big swing at it. Leaned out carb 4 jet sizes, added 4° timing and took 1 battery out. I think I went too far with jetting.
I had a .020 light to opponents .085. I ran 9.63 to his 9.59@ 147.
I wasn't too happy when I saw the time slip.
That was it for the weekend. Anyway, I'm hoping to find some hp over the winter. Im going to try and run the whole series next year and need a little more power for the hot weather.
Happy with the 9.38 but really disappointed with the 9.63. I think I finished 4th in points this year only attending 2 of the 6 races.
Also another first was a quad zero light. .0000
I've had trip zips before but never .0000.
