Hi guys,
could you please advise me? I'm looking for leaf springs for my 1964 Dodge Polara, with a 440cui engine. I would like some performance/street ones, I like the leaf springs from Hotchkis (HSS-24366) but in the description they state that they are for cars from 1966. Do you know if they would fit my 1964 Polara? Or do you have a tip for other leaf springs that are also good quality and good?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

I have early B Body from Eaton Detroit Springs. Bought several sets over the years.
Made to order + or - in spring rate and height. Tell them what you want and they will build them to your specs.

I don't have a clear idea of the stiffness, I would like something tuned for performance/street.. preferably something that is already manufactured. As I said, I like the Hotchkis kit, but I don't know if it would work on a '64 Mopar B body. I tried to email Hotchkis, but unfortunately they don't answer me, I think my email is going to their spam. :/

Eaton Detroit Springs.
Ships in 24 hours after ordering. They do have ready to go such as their version of Super Stock drag( That's what I have ) and Auto Cross style if that's what you prefer.

66 up springs are different.

'64 rear springs have a segment length of 21" from locating pin to front eye. '66-'70 springs are 22" , so, the newer springs will not work. They will push your rear end 1" rearward in the wheel well. In my ' 64 Polara, I have used Mopar Performance Super Stock springs. These are actually A-body springs, with a front segment length of 20" . By using the MP Plymouth front spring hangers, the front of the spring attachment point is moved rearward 1" to accommodate the 1" shorter S/S spring. The MP Dodge front hanger moves this attachment point back 2" , so don't use it. These front spring hangers are actually engineered to put S/S springs into '66-'70 B-bodies with different front segment length. In these cars, the Dodge had 1" longer wheelbase than Plymouth, and Chrysler accomplished this by different spring hanger lengths.
I use two of the LEFT side 3800 lb. springs, part # ending "455" . This spring has the second leaf extending closer to the rear spring eye, to help prevent sag of the main leaf. If you order and install a set of "455" and " 454" springs, your car will not sit level. The "454" spring has a shorter second leaf, and the main leaf will sag prematurely. Trust me on this. As a mismatched set, these S/S springs were never meant for everyday street use. They were engineered to make a race car launch a certain way. I have built 4 B-bodies, and these are the springs I have used in each of them.

The Hotchkis, as you know, are based off of 66-72 b-bodies. The 62-65 cars use a different spring length, especially from the center bolt forward and back[ I believe]. If you want to run the Hotchkis, or any other 66- spring, Firm Feel and Mancini have front spring hangers made by AR Engineering which will let you use those later springs. And the spring dimensions are different between Dodge and Plymouth for the 62-65 cars. Not so on later.

The aftermarket spring hangers will NOT mount the longer '66-'70 springs in a '62-'65 B-body, because the spring eye attachment point would have to move -1" , which is impossible. Also, the rear springs are the same on early '62-'64 B-bodies on Dodge and Plymouth, as are the hangers. The 3" wheelbase difference in these cars was accomplished with the unit body. The rear floor in a '63-'64 Dodge was actually 3" longer than the floor in a Plymouth. The '65 B-body wheelbase differences were addressed with different spring hangers, like the later models.

Hmmm. I'll need to look at the FF ones I got from Dick many years ago[ ARE units] when I bought my XHD springs from him for my 65 and compare to the old ones I took off. I might be wrong!

Hi Dave, could you please send me a link to some rear leaf springs that I could use? I wanted some performance/street tuned ones as I'm modifying the chassis, but if you say you have some tried and tested ones, I'd be happy to get some advice :)

I couldn't find any leaf springs for 1964 B-body on their website.
