So back to the floor question. the 71-72 B and E bodies use a common floor, then in 1973, the B bodies went to the isolated torsion bars, and the floors got a couple of bumps to clear that extra rubber isolated crossmember. The 73-74 E bodies also used this revised floor, even though E bodies did not go to the isolated torsion bars. The 75-79 B bodies are basically just a restyled 74 car, and really the only thing that changed under the car was they added a hump to the floor under the seat for the Catalytic converter. The 1979-1982 R Bodies are also essentially just a rebodied 74 B body. So what this all means is Yes, the new floors made by AMD and Goodmark will fit any B or R body from 71-81. If you aren't concerned about catalytic converters, all you need to do is add the little bumper for the torsion bar isolated crossmember clearance. Either pound the bumps in, or cut and splice.
Converting a 75-79 B body or 79-81 R body to a 4 speed is easy, because the two 4 speed humps for 71-74 B bodies are a direct fit. Use the 71-74 B body hump if you want a forward mount shifter like the 71-74 bench seat Chargers and Road runners used, or use the rear mounted hump that bucket seat 71-74 B and 70-74 E bodies used.
Same goes for the trunk floor. The 71-79 B bodies and 79-81 R bodies all use the same basic floor, other than the 74-78 B bodies have that big hump, that can be cut and spliced in if desired. Depending on whether your are going for OEM restoration, or a modified car, you can use a 71 B body trunk floor in any 71-79 B body or 79-81 R body, and you can use the 71 type gas tank in a 74-78 B body with the 71 trunk floor if you prefer. Besides the exterior looks, the 73-79 B bodies and 79-81 R bodies are virtually identical underneath.
