I took a ride in one of the Ford tri-motors once. It was a very serene experience. It seemed we were hardly moving, more like floating along.

FYI - I’ve been reading a few books lately related to the development of specific WWII aircraft. One I’m finishing up currently is about the German immigrant engineer who was North American Aviation’s chief engineer responsible for designing the P51 Mustang as well as the P82 and many other Army pursuit aircraft back then. It’s proving to be a real interesting book and it touches on most of the other 30s and 40s US prototype fighter aircraft being developed by Republican, Lockheed, Curtis- Wright, Bell, Northrop, etc, that were their competitors. It goes up into the F86 Sabre era also which is as far as I am in the book. I’ve been reading it from a Nook e-reader. Very interesting book with a lot of detail.
