I noticed that my steering column looks like it is for an automatic with the lever hanging on it. My 1970 car is a factory 4 speed with manual steering this can't be the original steering column. Does anyone out there have the correct steering column in decent shape for sale?

Lock out lever for the ignition key. 1970 "gem" only.
Is that for the lockout and not automatic? I just wanted to know if it was original and correct? Does anyone have a pic of what the lever connects to? Thanks

Factory. Both auto and standard have that. Vehicle has to be in park (auto) or reverse (std) to take key out.
do you know where the lever should be connected to or have a pic, I appreciate all your help ? Thank you.

The column is correct for the 1970 manual transmission. What is the shift tube in the automatic column serves as a lock tube for the manual shift column. The connecting linkage looks similar to the column shift automatic setup. The floor shift automatic column to floor shift lock used similar linkage too.

The following image from the factory service manual shows the column lock linkage and connection to the manual transmission:

It looks like a column shift linkage with a bellcrank between th frame and bellhousing.

All unique to a 4 speed though.
