Superbee at Kindig

The car owner is just as much to blame as the shop. Why take it there knowing they will modify it.
Exactly it's what the owner/s want...

The shop is just doing what they do...

very well known, why they take it there

different strokes for different folks

I think the Challenger was the one owned by actor Kevin Hart.....and for me that car was way too far gone in custom lingo to be nice to drive.

The addition of the Helephant drivetrain was the only draw for me.
yep
Dave/Kevdog & the shop, great/outstanding pure metal/fabrication guys,
built him exactly what he wanted...

they have some very talented people there
whether people like their style, it's what their customers wanted, paid for

not everyone wants a full-blown OE type resto

not everyone is a purist either, they don't go there for that

If I had a rolling '66-'67 B-body to do a resto mod on, and had buckets of cash, I'd love for Kindig to build me a car! What they do isn't everyone's cup of tea. I do take issue to resto-modding a numbers-matching car. Ultimately, it's the owner's call.

Just as Graveyard Cars isn't. Who cares if I have numbers-matching air in the tires or NOS washer fluid? If I were ever to afford a correct resto on my Coronet, and had $100K to smoke away, he'd be my choice.

Graveyard Carz has been building a bunch of modern Hemi powered restomod cars lately.

100K might get you about one third the way there.

not sure what "kevdog" brings to the table; other than driving viewers away
He a supposed be a damn good semi-truck driver/trailer hauler
he is the shop foreman for well over a decade, must have some skill
other than his, on camera crap

I'm sure it's all scripted BS for the camera too

Even with the dumb *** so called humor on the show from Mark. GYC is still my favorite TV car show. At least I do enjoy the finished product. My favorite parts are when Tony comes on and is more serious about his knowledge.

The 67 Coronet they did, I liked how they dropped the A pillars to have a slanted roof line.

They have unbelievable skills at the shop, but they put them to use in the wrong applications in my opinion. Killing good cars. Would not let Dave within a 100’ of my car.

I think @Richard Cranium should go into the restoration business, I’ve seen his cars.

Thanks. It's been fun for a hobby for all these decades, but I wouldn't want to do it as a business. At this age, even as a hobby I no longer have the desire to do a full/major restoration. However, obtaining a nice car that I can tinker with is still enjoyable to me.

Fully agreed but to them it's their business, its what they do but to the owner it's his money and likely he will never recoup the cost if they decide to sell in the future. The mods they do to their cars on behalf of customers never appealed to me.

I always figured the factory spent millions on design, from the body shape, to the colors, to the interior materials, and Mopar over-engineered everything. Why would you diverge from that? The best you can do is different, not better.

I admire their talent but am not much of a fan of the cars.

Kindig would slice and dice that Hemi Charger R/T! He would strip it,dip it,chop it and flop it onto a Roadster Shop chassis. He would shave the door handles and put his copycat 69 Pontiac Grand Prix handles in it,the wheels would be huge bling mistakes but they would clear those big brakes. He would swap out the Pistol Grip for a generic Lokar shifter, and get you a cool little button that opens up the electric exhaust cutouts. Every Hemi car needs those!

Kindig's shop does exactly what the owner wants. Nothing more, nothing less

Would I have done this car the way they are headed? not a chance.

And Im told by a few people start to finish for a full ground up custom build is well over 250k
with 500k not out of the norm

Kindigs C1 Corvette builds are kind of cool, but those cars need that kind of upgrade in the suspension and powertrain areas if they were original C1 Corvettes.
