Superbee at Kindig

They already effed up a 70 Challenger R/T and a 67 Coronet R/T now a Super Bee will be the next victim of their restomod butchery! Did Dynacorn run of of 69 Camaro bodies to butcher?
That 67 R/T was owned by a good friend of mine. He ended up selling it since he was getting older and didn't have the time/ambition to finish it up. It was a very nice numbers match R/T but needed a few minor things done to get it on the road again. Anyway, he decided to sell it and the new buyer no more than got it home before he took it to Kindig's for the butchery you refer to above. It was a shame to see a beautiful '67 R/T end up like that. Why didn't they use a CLONE for that instead of the real deal car?

That 67 Coronet R/T looked like a nice solid car and they cut the whole bottom out of the car!

Kindigs C1 Corvette builds are kind of cool, but those cars need that kind of upgrade in the suspension and powertrain areas if they were original C1 Corvettes.
They are nothing like an old 53-54 & they are 'proprietary' C1 design
& all carbon fiber body (Daves C1, not Chevrolets)
suspension it's 'full on' new C7 everything front to rear, unless otherwise ordered
& custom square tube chassis, (Roadster Shop ?)
w/all new LSX or SCLS or LT4/5 drivetrain, trans etc. all special gauges etc.
He was even doing tops for a couple of them, most are roadsters though

Supposedly, everyone also has custom 'one off wheels', owner's choices/styles
& none of them have the same color paint &/or interior combo, again owner's choices/styles
to keep them 1 off, special specific for that customer,
each car is numbered too

supposedly Dave Kindig wants to do a limited run of
53 (?) of them (IIRC, because it's a 53),
he was on like #9-10 or something last I saw

I was also under the impression it was $350k out the door

He/his shop won the Ridler award (2024 ? maybe 2025)
with a 1 off, all hand-built aluminum coach, built in his shop,
alum. bodied split window '53 coupe',
w/12 cylinder looked like it was based on an LS platform
& C7 Corvette rear transaxle,
body sort of based on his own C1 design, but in all Aluminum
Candy red paint, gold base & tan leather interior, flush mt glass etc.
1 off custom windshield casted frame
actual white gold & jeweled stones in the gauges, where the #s are

It's not my style, but it was awesome detailed build
one of his longtime customers, he's built several cars for already
asked him to build it for him
(took like a year+ & like $2,million)

Honestly: I think these bigshot shops won't work on a car that isnt showroom fresh. They know rust/collision repairs take extra time.
Not Kindigit, not exclusively anyway

I've seen total rust-buckets or Bondo buggy's
on some of his builds to start

He did one 39-40 Willy that was a total Bondo buggy prior

Stuff that came off a Dairy farm, sat for decades, it was the Swedish guys dad's
farm-truck, from Canada somewhere (IIRC)
it was bad *** 53 Ford F1 build
SC Coyote build, great looking truck, custom bed, super dark metallic green

or rustbucket cars he did a 64 Lemans that was a spaghetti strainer

early (68-70 ?) C10 pickup turned into a convertible
folding steel roof, that was out of the desert
or from the Midwest don't remember which

a 50's suburban, rusted out hull, that they turned into a fleet-side truck
(not my taste)

a 64 Falcon/Ranchero twin turbo'd Coyote deal
that must of had 100+#s of Bondo on the back
to mold a spoiler & over the tailgate from the previous builder
all stripped off & done right, with new steel & qtrs

It was an excellent original car. At the time, I had considered buying it from my buddy but I just had too many projects going back then.

Then THAT happened! He was upset as well as all of our group that knew the car. But, he sold it and he had his money, so really not much you can say or do about it. :BangHead:

I agree that Kindigs C1 Corvettes are carbon fiber or aluminum bodied hand built cars, with Roadster Shop frames and modern LS engines. What I said was that even factory built C1 Corvettes need a modern chassis upgrade because the original chassis are early fifties suspension and braking technology.

Sad to see a real R/T get chopped up when a 318 Coronet would have been a better shell to cut up like that. They didn't even use any of the parts that made that car an R/T anyway!

That car was at Corvette's at Carlisle and I got a picture of it. It looks really cool in person too (but not cool enough for $2 million!)

For that kind of money think about the fully restored Mopar you could buy. Easier to sell to when that time comes. When you over personalize a ride your audience that would buy becomes much smaller.

Also if you hang onto it too long, the trends change.

Remember when viper v-10 conversions were cool? Hellcat swap makes those v-10 look ancient.

How about pastel colors of the late 80’s early 90’s?

I absolutely admire the Kindig builds for what they are but the insistence that those damn door handles get used on everything drives me nuts.

Another show that I liked and would not mind seeing more of was Hand Built Hot Rods with Steve Strope. Again what he did might not be for everyone but I enjoyed seeing and hearing his thought process behind what he was doing.

ns1rm21, Troy, was on Hand Built Hot Rods. He works there. Was head constructor of the purple road runner they just did.

Steve Strope "Pure Vision" is a great builder too
done a couple MoPars, that were pretty cool too
nothing like a stock-er, except the body lines

Again
Talk to the owner, it was his decision, to use that car...
Not the shops

I think well over a dozen Mopars, maybe two dozen. Been in business 29 years.

He's done some really good cars, seen a bunch of them...

That 57 Del-Rio 2 dr Ranch Wagon (Ford) with a John Kasse Shotgun Hemi
was very cool
that Red with a white/stripe righthand drive 69 Charger GTB 500 w/RB (?) motor he did
was pretty damn cool too
68 Charger white with a Red Stripe, 472 Hemi (IIRC)
was very cool
the older 70 Hemi 'cuda was nice, from 15+ years ago that runs around Semi Valley
nice old-school build
that 66-67 Fairlane 427 side-oiler, sort of NASCAR style streetcar
was pretty damn cool too
Joe Rogan's gen 2 65 (?) Vett & gen 1 69 Camaro
were both nice too
his own personal Olds 64-65 Cutlass (IIRC)
was pretty dang cool
that lil' Truck (Datsun (?) more of a restoration with a lil' more power)
he/Steve & crew did was nice
(not my style but really nice, detailed build)

He's known to not be afraid to do something different,
out of the box & not just a follower
different brands even, says it himself;
"he doesn't want to do only 1 brand,
makes him be pigeonholed, says "he's just not that guy"

What’s the older 70 Hemi Cuda that runs around Simi Valley?

I’ve lived there for 20 years, it sure I’ve seen it. But there’s a lot of classic cars in town, I certainly haven’t seen them all.
