Superbee at Kindig

I’ll never understand why people buy nice cars at auction or wherever for real money and then take them to Kindig or similar. Just buy a cheap roller body in your desired flavor, let them build it out and tell them what badges you want on it when it’s done. They are going to replace everything anyway.
Travis..

Honestly: I think these bigshot shops won't work on a car that isnt showroom fresh. They know rust/collision repairs take extra time.

When they talked about putting a front spoiler and rear diffuser on the Bee I threw up in my mouth a little bit!

The owner in this video did say he doesn't want anything radical. It was also mentioned the car is a clone. We'll see how crazy they go with it. I like the full frame, though, especially with that much power.

I like his work, but definitely prefer stuff like his vw buses - more "California custom" compared to really radical stuff. And I love his CF1 cars (and I don't even like Corvettes).

Kevin Hart's Challenger didn't work for me, the front track was way too narrow and it looked like it had way too small tires on it as a result, and the front valence made it look like it had Leno's chin. Proportions were way out of whack - but the pentastar taillight lens was cool. But, to each his own. I liked his wife's Chevelle, I like the VWs, loved the copper Caddy...but some of his stuff I think he does it just to show they can.

I have a 73 Challenger carcus that I am thinking about doing a modern chassis or body over swap with.

Could be a clone?

Yes it is, BUT a damn nice one. In the beginning of the video I thought it was just there for a HEMI install by how nice it looked.

Graveyard Carz has been building a bunch of modern Hemi powered restomod cars lately.

Technically you are comparing apples to oranges here, Kindigs and Wormans restomods are on a whole nother level and completely different. At least Wormans restomods with the modern HEMIs are more stock appearing until you open the hood

Just watching an early rerun of Fast & Loud.... damn that guy Charles looks like Kevdog.

Kindig's shop does exactly what the owner wants. Nothing more, nothing less

Would I have done this car the way they are headed? not a chance.

And Im told by a few people start to finish for a full ground up custom build is well over 250k
with 500k not out of the norm
For that kind of money think about the fully restored Mopar you could buy. Easier to sell to when that time comes. When you over personalize a ride your audience that would buy becomes much smaller.

I did what I wanted with my car, and it makes me happy. I don't think anyone has the right to $hit on my car if they don't like it - get your own.

I am NOT a fan of the slammed rides with huge wheels - I would never do that to any of my cars. Having said that, if that's what someone wants, who am I to say it sucks? I don't personally care for that style car, but I can still appreciate the workmanship, creativity, and quality of ANY build, regardless if I would want to have it.

The people paying the kind of money to have a car built by someone at Daves level , isnt worried about resale value

Agreed, on all points.

Having been on the end where the customer gets what HE wants,
I understand all points from both sides
But when someone else is paying the bill for YOU to build HIS car

The builders approval is no longer required.

If , I could afford Dave Kindigs services I would, above any other builder out there
I would just reign him in a bit ( ok A LOT ) on the hot wheels look

Nothing against his shops workmanship, they do amazing work, but his builds aren't my cup of tea!

As far as resale is concerned, just watch the auctions and hear how much those restomods cost to build and see how much they lose when they sell them. There aren't many buyers willing to pay full boat what the previous owners payed shops like Dave's to build the car.

Not disagreeing
But I doubt the guys who can afford that kind of build. Are too concerned with resale value
