Confirmed it is an 850 DP. We are going to try this first (once the car gets back from paint), My second choice based on the feedback and info her, will be an Edelbrock 750. Thought about the TQ looking Demon, and would love an original TQ, but I doubt I could find one.

First, you don't know my mechanic so no need to hurl an insult. Second, I find the Edelbrock/carter carbs much easier to tune.

Had this on my 383 but always ran rich or just flat out ran like crap. Mechanic rebuilt and still we had trouble getting it to work properly.

I do have this Holley available. Not sure if it’s an 850 or 950

I may have gotten the aluminum wrong. they may be the 4340 forged steel. It's been since October since the build.

Why so? The pistons had a different wrist pin diameter so couldn't use the stock rods. Had the Manley rods and chose them because....well, I had them.

That is my first instinct. I mean, 451 cubic inches at 10.5:1 compression should have plenty of low end to start with. I do have a 3:55 Ring and pinion I could put back in but I thought the 3:23 was a good drivable ratio for near daily driving.

So it seems with 3:23 rear end and no interest in dedicated "Strip racing", A dual plane would be better for my application for street use. Can the con of lower RPM performance at street use be overcome with a livelier Smaller CFM carb using the single plane intake?

Can you help me understand the difference in performance good/bad for the dual versus single plane?

That is sweet. My money has already been spent with the exception of the Carb, so a single 4BBL will be the next purchase.
