So I made this body lifting fixture and a cart to hold the K member with the engine and tranny installed and it worked great! Only hang up was making clearance to get the cross member in but otherwise it couldn't have been a better fit, and I didn't need a saw to remove the cart once the K was bolted up! Whew! You will notice the angle of the cart frame vs. the car sub frame is almost exact when I set the body down to the limit of the engine crane. This is not by accident and the result was an easy start to all four K member bolts. I did the whole job myself and it took about an hour, which included having to remove the steering column and fighting with the tail shaft. I may lower the rear part of the cart to aid in cross member installation but other than that I'm very pleased.

Once you do it that way you will never do one from the top again. You don't have to worry about working over fenders or scratching up a freshly painted engine compartment.

Once this was done I thought the exact same thing. Geez, I can swap the 472 HEMI into the Road Runner or the green Belvedere on a weekend! Maybe invent Velcro fasteners for the K member and swap it during lunch!!! Oooooh, I think I'm on to something. And all these years I've been doing it the herd way.

yeah but my car it its close step brother bastard twin LOL

and you can never have enough road runners

So true! Trade you a dry 71 Ranchero plus cash!! You can use it to haul MoPar parts!

The Ranchero is a CA black plate car. 351C 4V, C6, factory A/C, P/S, PDB, 9", tonneau cover, recent seat upholstery, hideaways. The engine appears to have been rebuilt (or had some work done to it) before I bought it and runs fine. I can give you the run down of what I did when I got it, which was basically undoing what the previous owner did and fixing some things that needed fixing. I did a lot of work on this car with the intention to keep it but the reason I'm selling it is I ended up with my deceased buddies 67 390 4 spd Ranchero and I don't need two Rancheros. Since I love the 70 / 71 Torinos I will eventually get a factory red 70 fastback Torino to add to the collection, and just so you know I will trade up to a good 70 but it must be a 70, red and a 4 spd.

Oh, here's a pic shortly after I put on the TT d's
