Looks legit to me, maybe wrong build sheet for car, but that is where you would find the vin stamp on the engine and trans in `68 and they match the vin. Lots of pics and I didn't look at all of them.

engine and trans match the vin, but the fender tag and trunk lip dont match the vin, neither does the build sheet. looks like three cars not a "original interior, numbers matching car"

Just tried to pull up the listing and it's gone so something was not right about it.

The body numbers match the the numbers on the fender tag as they should. The engine and trans numbers match the vin as they should. Car is legit, just has the wrong build sheet in it which was not uncommon. I just don't know why the guy is making a point about it having a build sheet at all since it is not the right one for the car.

Had a 70 440 RT Challenger rag top that had the wrong build sheet. The BS was for a /6 car! The rag top was a fully loaded RT too. I owned it in the early 80's before these cars started their run up the financial ladder and anyone cared about numbers matching.

The engine/trans #'s match the VIN? How? Didn't think they stamped the drivetrain until '69? I thought '68 all you got was the build date? Also thought trunk lip and core support #'s in '68 back were build order #'s, not VIN #'s?

I had a 68 Dart, which I think were stamped the same way as a Charger, and the body #'s matched the fender tag, but these were different than the VIN. I had the matching build sheet, and the body #'s/fender tag # were the called the Shipping Order on the BS.

so without the buildsheet it gets hard to tell if the car is correct ...its the common tie to the two sets of numbers?

In `68 the engines were stamped with the vin# near the oil pressure sending unit and the mating surface to the trans. Autos were stamped adjacent to the engine vin as shown in the auction, while the 4 speeds were stamped on the side of the gearbox as they are in the following years. It is a bummer that the build sheet is not with the car for a `68 in particular, but it is as legit as every other `68 with a fender tag and no build sheet. You just have to take into consideration all of the other evidence that you can discover on the car itself that ties it all together.
