I just bought a restored dash pad off of craigslist and was a bit shocked when it bent like a limp noodle as I pulled it out of the package? Has all the mounting studs and looks nice enough but it just doesn't have any back bone like the stock pad. It has more of a consistancy of foam rubber with a textured vinyl surface appearence and I'm affraid she won't handle the ultra violets very well. Anybody out there dealing with the same situation? I would like to ask the seller, who restored this pad but it seems as though he fell off the face of the earth. Anyone try the Classic Industries B body dash pad or have a reputable restoration outfit that they could let me in on?

I bought one from Herbs a couple of years ago for my RR. It still looks like new. Classic probably sells the same brand. Mine sure didn't have any sag to it. I got a feeling you won't be happy with the one you just bought in a couple of years.

Get you one from B/E@A it's Mike and he is a good guy to buy from. The pads are built just like the originals with the metal frame and they look good. Good Luck Ronnie

I bought mine from Mike at B/E and A. I couldn't find one thing out of place from my original except of course the faded color and cracking. The fit was awesome and looks great plus it was way cheaper buying the new one than having one redone

Thanks for the advice, I will be shelving this pad and chocking one up for a $180 lesson learned.

i have bought several reproductions ones and they are all about a 1/2 to short on the ends , they dont fit up snug in the a pillar moldings like the originals do .

Stu....are you talking about BE&A's or the cheaper one that came out about 3 years earlier that does not have a metal backing? I have the BE&A one on the dash for the convertible, but I haven't put the dash in the car yet. So far the fit has been spot on.

the ones i got have the metal reinforcment at all , they look great and have the correct grain and fit fine but are short on the ends

i looked up my reciepts one came from P&G ( same stuff as BE&A ) and one came from year one another from hardens . all fit about the same

ok sorry for the bad cell phone pictures but I just ran out in the cold garage and took these , this one came from P&G and is installed in the 70 superbird convertible

it fits the exact same way on the passenger side , and the year one pad does the same thing in my 69 charger

P&G SUCKS big time and the one I got from Dante's had stripped studs and did not have the plastic tabs to mount the speaker cover.

I agree... I had a long thread about the dash pad I received from PG and the headaches that came along with trying to return it.... I wouldn't order a door lock gasket from them. The one they sent me had the metal inner core all rusted up. Instead of losing basically half my money, I stripped what I could of the metal core from the backside, coated with rust Bullet, and now i'm sitting back with my fingers crossed wondering how long the foam will stay adhered to the part of the rusty core I couldn't get to.

If I had to do it again, I would have used my original core and sent it off to just dashes to be completely redone. A bit more pricey, but at least I would know it was done right.

BE&A and P&G use the same molds and suppliers for there parts !! mike at BE&A does have a much better quality controll and return policy !!!!

If the use the same molds, do not buy from either, their molds are not correct. They are a 1/2" off on the corners, see my thread about dashpads.

Here is what I am talking about.
