Hello,

There seems to be a good bunch of guys & gals here, I'm glad I found this site. I've had my '68 Satellite for 7 years now and have made quite a few upgrades so far and plan on making more in the future. I've done 95% of the work on it myself and enjoy working on the Satellite when time and funds permit. So far I've built the engine for it (360 LA). I did the front disk brake swap last year as well as rebuilt the front suspension using poly bushings and 1" torsion bars. I also added front and rear swar bars, KYB's, etc so it goes around corners pretty good. It might not look like much yet but I have fun with it and enjoy talking shop with others in the hobby. My next step is to start doing bodywork and that kind of has me a little worried but with help from friends we'll get that done too.

Thanks!

Hey brother, Thanks for the help on the parking lights question. Your car looks alot like mine. This site is awesome. So far everything I have had trouble with, someone on here has walked me thru the fix.....there is a wealth of knowledge here. Is your satty a bucket seat floor shifter car? I noticed your head rests, what kind of seats do you have?

Jr no, it was originally a column shifted auto/bench car. Bench seat was long gone when I got the car, got buckets out of a newer Gran Prix in it, they are HEAVY, but comfy.

Thanks for the welcome daredevil & Runner!

Nothing wrong with comfy......

Welcome..............

........and please have that Satellite shipped to 34935 Fun Way, Zephyrhills....................and please pack it well. :santa:

Hey man, I was looking at your pic of your car again......Is that a chrome piece of trim on top of the fenders? Looks like it runs the whole length of the car on the top edge......May just be the light reflection.......looks cool though.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, prhousejr - Your eyes do not deceive you, it's trim, haven't decided whether or not to remove it permanently yet

:grin:I have never seen that on one.......I would leave it, its cool, and different. If you do take it off however, contact me first I am interested in it...... No anybody reproducing that trim. It is very cool.

Gosh, you gotta leave it on. It is to cool......probably rare on these cars anymore. Wonder what the factory name for that trim is? I am gonna Google it. Probably like fender trim, or body seam trim.....who knows?:edgy:

That factory trim is RARE and extremely nice stuff..............

PLEASE keep it on there...............there are far too few of these with the trim still intact.:yes:

Thanks guys!! pr - I think I'll leave the beltline trim on it after hearing how rare and beautiful it is  . I may need to find a replacement for the pass. side front fender though, it's kind of kinked up from a long ago fender bender, not high on the priority list right now.

Hey man I dont blame you. I have never seen it on one, and I dang sure like it on there. I am looking for some for mine as we speak. Really looks slick. Is that what it is called? Beltline trim???? I did not know what to call it, and no one knew what I was talking about. I would say it is definetly some rare trim... Dont take it off.

I had to do a little research on the subject, here's what I've figured out so far. The beltline trim goes right at the transition from the top of the door and rear quarter to the glass, convertibles all had it and Hardtops as evidenced by the attached photo could also be optioned with it. The car in the photo also has the full length body side moulding with turn indicators,(which my car does not have), and the custom sill moulding. To the best of my knowledge, in '68, the Satellite was the only model in the belvedere line to have the full length body side moulding as I've not seen pictures of any GTX, Road Runner, Sport Satellite or Belvedere with it. There were two variations, one with the "landing lights" turn indicators built into the front end of the moulding and one without turn indicators. I've seen it on ebay before so it's out there but most people have dechromed their cars and a lot of it has been tossed. Also, I think the trim for '69's is different but haven't had much luck checking that out. Do a Google images search for "1968 Satellite", you'll find plenty of pictures of Satellites with the body side moulding.
