Hi guys
I am exhausted with talking to trucking companies who wont ship to Canada because it is a personal item and i'm not a company. I'm looking at having a fiberglass hood shipped from Wisconsin to Alberta Canada. Should be about 50lbs. Boxed. From a personal address drop off at a depot to a depot here. So a depot to depot shipment. UPS is a killer for brokerage!!! Not an option. Has anyone of my canuck b-bodies members run into this issue?
Your help would be greatfully appreciated.

We're fortunate enough to live 40 minutes from the border where there is a "quick stop" that we ship parcels to. Dealing with brokerage for large items is a PIA. Pick it up if you can or have someone grab it for you.

Yup Stay away from UPS,i wish i could help you

ups is a rip off, yes. brokerage fees and it is a duty free item. if you are close to the border you can make it work but if not it is do-able. where are you located would help to know. i have had a lot of dealings bringing stuff here to ontario and it will help to know if you are out in the middle of the prairies or near a city.

I live in Edmonton Ab. Still about 7 hours from the border.

I can help ... can you get that hood to WA? ... I can get it to BC ... and then to Edmonton from here.

Double check if the WA to BC option will work before shipping. Our local Canadian border guys have started rejecting importation of packages by someone other than the addressee. Bottom line, they won't let you bring your buddy's package across the border. Not certain if that is happening at all border crossings, but they seem to be looking for ways to make it more difficult around here.

While I refuse to use a courier, you have to look at the economics of the shipping options. Is the brokerage fee less than your time and expenses to pick up the item from the border that is 7 hours away? It may be cheaper for you to just pay the fee and get it delivered to Edmonton. If they insist on a business address (seems odd, never had that before) ship it to your work address.
