Hello all, I found this site a few months ago by doing a Google search for "'71 Road Runner Restoration". I then followed 71airgrabberRR thread here. I have a '71 Road Runner that I am going to be restoring in the near future. I've had the car since 2003. Since then, I have been collecting parts for it. I have my work cut out for me as this is my first restoration. It's a GY8 car with black bench interior, column shift, 383, factory air, factory tint, strobe stripe and hood stripes.
I got infected with the Mopar bug when I was very young. Back in the early '80's, one of my uncles had a '71 Road Runner, blue, air grabber 440 +6, white bench interior, column shift. I always loved that car. I also though it was cool because, at that time, the Road Runner cartoons were still on. When I was old enough to get my license (1990), I purchased a '73 Charger SE, super blue, blue buckets, black vinyl top. The previous owner swapped the 400 for a '69 440. That car is long gone but, I still have the 440 and torqueflite from it. I wish I knew then what I know now. That car was very solid. It was Ziebarted early in life and had very minimal rust. You live and learn, I guess.
Right now, I'm trying to finish up my garage rebuild so that I can finally start work on the bird. I'm going to be asking a lot of questions and look forward to any guidance you guys can give me.
