Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've posted, wanted to share a progress report. I have been working pretty steady on my GTX. I got the rusty floor out, subframe connectors in, new trans crossmember and gussets in and the floor/trans tunnel replaced. The bodywork is getting close to being finished with the body all in high build 2k now.
It was sure nice to see that T56 all bolted in with the new sheet metal overtop. I had the engine in for mockup, also nice to see! I have had this car for 11 years now and I am finally getting ahead on it! image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

You are doing a very fine job,the tunnel looks very professional.Keep up the good work

Looking good . . . Just got finished replacing the floors in my car, I know what you've been up to . . . Keep it moving forward ! !

Thanks for the update . . .

looking real good thanks for posting some updates :headbang:

Thanks for the support guys. I will try to make a point of getting progress pics put up a little sooner next time. Sometimes it's tough finding the time to work on that unit. Family life and kids have a way of taking up a majority of my time. Wouldn't have it any other way!

Nice craftsmanship you're showing us. Keep it up and I hope you get to drive it soon!

Might look like this when done?

Hi everybody, I've still been working on the GTX quite a bit. Not progressing as fast as I'd like but that's not a surprise! I have the body all bolted back together, inside edges of everything are painted now. I have the engine bay painted as well. The front suspension is all powder coated and installed (hopefully for good). I need to pick up a clutch and figure out my throw out bearing spacing before I can install the engine and trans (also hopefully for good!)

This is a great community to be a part of, I learn a lot and tend to do a lot more reading and learning than posting.

Now, without any further ado: some car ****!image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

6speedgtx, what kind of prep work did you do on the engine bay before putting the finish color on it? I'm at that point now and would like any advice. 66 Coronet 440 2dr HT; 318 Poly

Cairopd1069, after welding in the new inner fenders, I sandblasted the remainder of the engine bay with one of those small gravity fed blasters. It took a while but that's what I had to work with. Then I scuffed the inner fenders and sprayed the whole bay in epoxy primer. I had another guy come and spray the colour, he gave the epoxy it's final scuff but I'm not sure what grit he used. It was sprayed with a sealer then the BC/CC in body colour. Good luck!
