A few questions, after some polishing last night I believe all of my chrome parts are trash. Is it more reasonable to just buy a new new mirror, door handles and wing window frames or get them re chromed. If anyone knows a good chrome shop that is reasonable on pricing let me know.

Repoped meaning? My chrome bumpers are looking a little worse for wear too after celebrating their 47th year on my '66 hemi Coronet.

I got new door handles, about 100 bucks for good ones. I know the mirrors are available from 521 Restorations. the windows frame molding I am assuming you are talking about, not chrome but either polished aluminum or stainless steel, those can be restored. I did some restoration on those myself, but its very labor intensive to sand and polish, and if you have dents or deep scratches you have to tap them out then file off before sanding. There are places that do trim restoration, most are around 75 bucks a linear foot, so its not cheap to have someone do it. Ogden Chrome does trim parts, but be ready to pay, I had my headlight bezels done, it was expensive, but then end result was amazing!!!! Just have to figure out what parts you want to spend extra on!

One thing you must have re-chromed is the bumpers. Be careful on choosing a place to do this. A few years ago I was referenced to a place & took my front 70 Bee bumpers there. The place kept them for 8 months!! When I finally insisted on getting my bumpers & my money back I was told to give them 1 week & they would be finished. They were finished by the next week just like I was told. But 3 weeks after installing them & a couple minor rain storms I began to notice rust developing from under the chroming. I had an extra set at the time so I etched, primed & painted them & took off the re-chromed ones.

Ogden Chrome does nice work on bumpers, have a really good quality control practice, and price quoted is included pickup and delivery of your parts, only thing you have to do is wrap them in bubble warp and heavy cardboard to have them shipped!

Thanks guys, the bumpers are of no concern since they are being painted body color. After a night of work on the trim I found that I like the brushed look allot better (not much on shiny stuff) is there a way to get a brushed look on the chrome?

I worked on the window frames last night, they have a stainless trim strip on them but the whole front looks to be chrome plated pot metal or aluminum "it has minor pitting".

I recently had my bumpers rechromed and straightened for my 67 GTX. Tri City plating in TN. They are usually at the Moopar Nats in Columbus. I just dropped mine off at the Nats and had to pay shipping on the return trip. Very nice work, and about a 5 week turn around. Lifetime guarantee on the chrome. I had about $ 860 with shipping when it was all said and done. For My vent windows I was possibly going to use Lakeside Custom Plating up near Cleveland. I have not used them yet but did talk to them at length at the Springfield Oh swap meet. They seem reputable and had some rechromed display items.

I sent my bumpers to ABC Plating Inc in Nevada. $700 complete for both bumpers and the bumperettes. Outstanding work at a very reasonable price.
