Recently joined as I am starting a 1969 project. Original 318 car that currently has a 340, I am looking to rebuild a 1970 440 block and put it in. Car is complete but needs lots of work. I am sure I will have lots of questions going forward so thank you in advance for your help.

Welcome from MI. Post some pics of the car when you can.

Horrible, just give it to me and I'll get it out of your sight. :) Looks like a good starter. What else are you planning aside from the 440?

Welcome to Mopar University. Best site on the net for b bodies. That Charger will be a great project. Lots of Charger folks on here.

Would like to do a complete refinish, clone the 440 car, I really do not know what I am doing!!! I bought this car 25+ years ago with newly rebuilt motor and trans but it had electrical problems and never really drove except to win a bet. It has sat in my barn for all that time. Car actually runs decent. I am afraid I am going to take a car that actually runs and turn into a pile of parts!!! Looking to retire in a few years so it is now or never. Paid $1k for the car and got the 440 block for $50. I figure I can drop a few bucks on this one and still end up OK, but pretty sure the kids won't want to let me sell it when its done.

Nice looking project. Sure would be nice to be able to buy stuff for those prices today. I just picked up a 400 & 440 bare block just to have sitting around because they are getting hard to find around here. Paid $750. for the pair.

Great starter. I am also restoring a 69 Charger that was a 318 and I'm going RT clone. Yours looks to be in much better starter shape than mine. Good luck. You will find that they make a lot of reproduction parts for that car. You can basically build a new car from scratch if you want. LOL

Shoot me a line if you have any questions. I'm not a professional but I'll probably be a little ahead of you and probably will make the mistakes before you. :upside down:

I am out looking for a transmission now, currently has automatic and will probably keep it that way. I am taking the 340 out but what all do I need to make the 440 bolt up. Will the cross member work? drive shaft? ANY advice is really appreciated. The car originally had AC and I plan on putting it back on, not sure what kind of problems that will create. Lots of people posting pictures of beautiful motors but none have an ugly AC pump hanging of the front!!

Sorry not sure about those changes. The project I bought already had a 440 and the transmission is good so I'm not changing any of that. Mine doesn't have an ac but I'm going to look at adding vintage air at a later date when I find an acceptable looking place for it. Right now my motor is on a stand and waiting. I've just installed all My floor pans and about to move to add rear quarters and other outside body work.

Nice looking Charger Pat, congrats on owning the best year and "B" Body!

no problem, I am sure I will have lots of other questions!!

Original or aftermarket to make it work, keep the AC.
