Just rv'd my white perforated style headliner and sail panels from YearOne for the 72 SSP project car. Along with the headliner and sail panels, I found two additional pieces of the same fabric in the box that measure approx. 30" by 34". One of them has some writing on it with some kind of pencil. I wonder what these two rectangular pieces are for? Might just be left over fabric they decided to throw in the box. Sent an email to YearOne asking them what's up. Thought I would mention it here on the forum, just in case the answer was closer at hand. Thank you.

I think the extra material that is included with the headliner is for the sail panel covers.

That extra 2 pieces are for the sunvisors

My sail panels were purchased with the fabric installed already, the sun visor idea seems the most viable explanation at the moment.

its for the sail panels, I've never seen the sun visors the same material as the headliner

Answer from YearOne:

Thank you for purchasing from Year One. Some people choose to
re-cover their old sail panel boards, so material to do that is
included.

Like I said, they sold me sail panels already covered, so I end up with some extra fabric. End of story.

Did you do your head liner yourself? I need to do mine and herd it was a nightmare unless your a regular and experienced. I am a confident DIY'er and want to do it. Any advice?

Would love to hear the play by play on self install of head liner. Want to try it myself ALSO but heard it could be a nightmare too.

Thanks for the tip Dangina. I will carefully examine the "YearOne" headliner I was just about to have installed. Funny thing is, the upholstery shop offered to make me one today after telling me that those headliners they have seen pre-made from the United States do not fit properly. Bummer, after the long wait, customs fees, and shipping charges, I thought I was guaranteeing a proper fit.

Update: Installed just the rods alone the way I found them and did some measuring. The distance from the front rod to the rear rod is about 37.5 inches. The distance between the front and rear loops on the new headliner is also about 37.5 inches, although their is a little variance when measuring the distance between each individual rod loop compared to the rods I prefit for measuring. Apparently, things are not so far off that we can't make it fit. Will update again, probably next week with the final installation.

the rods heims were so far off that by the time you got to the last one, it was a few inches off, which then i had to take down to my fathers shop and sew a new bow heim in, turned out ok, but it still didn't fit the greatest. I'll probably tear it back out in the winter and get a proper one put in....

Update: A local upholstery Guru installed the headliner in my '72 SSP project car. The YearOne, four-rod headliner seemed to fit OK. Still have a few wrinkles after 24 hours. I wonder how long it takes for them to dissipate?
