There is a group of holes in the tops of both fenders that I can't figure out looking at pictures of several restored cars. Any thoughts? They are identical on both sides and appear fairly uniform.

Maybe somebody tried some form of this?

I should have said 'mystery to me' but if they aren't factory, then I guess it will remain a mystery. I'll fill 'em.

I wondered about some type of cross brace, Aldal. Don't think I like the look - detracts from the engine!

Thanks!

From the pic you posted wasco, the holes appear to be closer to the rad support than the middle where the shock towers are, so no way were they used for some crossbar thingamajig. If you had a crossbar there, it would be going over your fan shroud/belts pulleys area.

That's a puzzler, alright.
Maybe they put lights in the wheelwells that lit up for different RPM ranges, like early 70s "color organ" thingies!

The single smaller hole at the rear is the mounting hole for the windshield washer bottle fluid. If only these old cars could tell stories.
