hey im new to the restoring world , my satellite is my first project car, recently just got my new quarter panel on passenger side put on using sheet metal screws, the door and front fender all align straight, parts of the rear window area all align up as well, all even with driver side, but when i try to align the trunk up with both sides seems like the trunk lid wants to pop up and the passenger side it will align up if i put some down force on the right side and all. when i snug up the bolts its seems to want to pop up on the passenger side no clue why bad bracket? just curious what would cause this? the trunk lid aligned up perfectly before i tore her all apart. i replaced the rear cross member, trunk pan, trunk extensions, lower rear taillight panel. any help would be appreciated!

OK I was able to get both sides even but the top of the trunk lid is sitting lower than the deck lid not sure what I'm doing wrong here any pointers will be highly appreciated! I'll post some pics!

One key piece your forgetting that will help some is the trunk weatherstrip. Trunk lids are tricky and they never fit well new. So put in your trunk latch/catch, dry fit your weatherstrip with tape and then try your adjustments.

Sometimes even when you do all above it fits as it fits.....

Thanks! Highly appreciate it! I'll give it a shot !

As stated above, deck lids can be a pain in the butt. But they can get close, "sometimes", even perfect......sometimes!

By the way, welcome to FBBO, the best B-body knowledge base in the universe. And by the way, nice work you are doing. You should start a restoration thread, most here like to see these old girls coming back to life.

Thank you , glad to be a part of the community! I will sure do that at some point here. Once I gather all my pictures up I'll post them ! Thanks again for the help. Highly appreciated!

Yep. The guys have u going the right way. Those dang seals can really throw a monkey wrench in if they are use during fit up. At the least I use the old stuff for fit up on my personal stuff. Customer cars we use the new stuff with the understanding we may goof one up and need another. I just tack glue them on with some weatherstrip glue.
