Hello everyone had my coronet out for a ride today. Car ran great stopped and topped off fuel with leaded 110. Drove about 5 miles. Car hesitated once then stalled. Got off the road sat awhile started back up running rough and stalled. Checked spark plenty spark. Checked fuel filter a couple of specs in it.replaced filter. Started ran a little stalled does anyone think a bad mechanical fuel pump?

Possible, BUT, water in new gas? Just a thought.

Hello thanks for the reply. Changed filter did not see signs of water did see some black specs. Could be rubber. All new fuel lines fuel tank . Thought maybe diaphragm coming apart. Always treated fuel.

You feel the need to run 110 leaded and yet you don't have a fuel pressure gauge?

You could be right. Don’t forget ignition either!

When my car did that years ago it turned out that the fuel pump rod was worn. It acted like that for a while & one day at an intersection died. & that was that...

Thanks for the input. Will look for a good quality rod also

easy way to check pump problem is to check fuel level in carb after a stall. would be super low or empty if fuel starving.
