New bench needs a vise

What's a dual lock down? Don't think I've ever seen that before.

The ones we have at work are pretty old so maybe they don't make them that way anymore. If you look at the photo of the Wilton posted by BeeKool it is located between the two bolts that attach it to the bench and some have another one on the other side that isn't visible in the photo.

I would go with a Wilton, but get one that will that will rotate on its axis, not just spin...5" is a good size

I bought this one at Lowes the other day for $25 on a blow out, it’s not the heavy duty type. Anyone know anything about it?

Ya might want to beef up that bench though.
If those are lag bolts it will not last long.

It is bolted through 3/4" MDF on top of 3/4" marine plywood with a 1/4" steel plate on the underside. Bench is 4' x 8' - 2x6 framing 12" on center with 6x6 rough-sawn hemlock legs - it's good...

PheWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW I was worried there for you for a minute.

Looks like a deal.
Good for changing U-jiints and general grip jobs.
Probably not up for holding a piece of iron while you straighten it with an 8lb sledge, but definitely a good garage vise

I ended up scooping this German made 6" forged beast. It is in new condition, in fact the knurled jaws look like they've never been used nor the anvil. Drilled the 1.25" steel benchtop for some 1/2" bolts and it's good to go. Even has pipe jaws below.
