I have a 1971 Dodge Charger and just replaced the ignition switch/harness and turn signal switch harness in the steering column. Both were plug and play. The turn signals, hazzards, ignition works great now. It all went in with out a hitch, but now when I hook up the battery the horn is activated? I went back and did it all again and this time I even left the steering wheel off having the turn signal switch exposed and still the horn goes off when I hook up the battery. Have I missed something. The horn was working as it should before I replaced the wiring in the column. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. Happy new year!

The horn button grounds a wire to the column which activates the horn, you need to find where it's being grounded. Either your horn button is grounding or the wire is pinched allowing it to ground. Should be easy to find.

Sounds like (pun intended) a contact is being made or a ground isn't grounded. If the connectors are exposed, as a test, try a piece of electrical tape on them, or could be one of them (connector) is bent out of position creating unintended contact from the work you did with the switches...

Yes it was being grounded out at the horn button on the new signal harness on the back side. It was touching the housing. A little piece of electrical tape fixed the problem. Thank you so much! I guess I was just over thinking the problem. Happy New Year!
