Pursuant to the Michigan Vehicle Code, Section 257.252G, the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office is auctioning a 1969 Plymouth two-door GTX. This vehicle was deemed abandoned on private property and turned over to the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle will be sold to the highest bidder. The winning bid amount will be due to Leelanau County Treasurer by 4:00 p.m. on the fifth business day after the close of the auction (June 24, 2019). Payment must be in cash or cashiers’ check. Upon payment and presentation of government issued photo identification, Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office will issue a written receipt and Bill of Sale.
This vehicle is sold as is, without any warranty of any kind and no representations are being made as to the operations status or fitness for any purpose or use for any purpose or as to any characteristic of the vehicle, ANY SUCH WARRANTIES BEING EXPRESSLY WAIVED. The vehicle is missing the battery and it is unknown if the engine is in running condition. The vehicle appears to have been in storage for a number of years. Liability: All vehicles are sold as is, no warranty expressed or implied. The County of Leelanau assumes no liability for inaccurate or erroneous descriptions contained in any material pertaining to the auctioned equipment. Leelanau County reserves the right to reject any or all bids received in the best interest of the County.
Time Limit: If vehicle is not picked up within five business days upon notice of bid award, the County of Leelanau reserves the right to retain the vehicle and relist the vehicle for auction.
Payment: Due to the nature of this unique auction, please make an appointment for formal purchase with the Sheriff's Office - 231-256-8602. Payment for vehicle must be paid in full at the Leelanau County Treasurer’s Office; cash or cashier's check only will be accepted, with a valid picture ID. Applicable sales tax will be charged from the Secretary of State when title is applied for. If bidder sends an agent to pick up the vehicle, an original NOTARIZED statement from the bidder appointing the individual as his/her agent and authorizing the agent to sign the Bill of Sale as Purchase and agent of the bidder must be presented, along with a valid driver’s license in his/her name.
Tax Exemption: If a governmental entity, school, car dealer or other tax-exempt organization is the successful bidder, a tax exemption form must be provided prior to removing the vehicle.
Pick Up: Once payment in full has been made to the County Treasurer, the successful bidder is solely responsible for removal of said vehicle. Vehicle is to be removed at the risk and expense of the purchaser, without County staff participation.
