how to remove headrest from 1969 gtx

hi,
I want to replace the chrome strip around my headrests and I am having trouble trying to remove the headrest they wont budge. any help would be greatly appreciated,

I believe you have to yank up kind of hard. There are “safety notches” on the shafts to hold the headrest secure.

If I remember correctly, you have to remove the seat back to access the keepers. Don't quote me though.

Agree with this post. Mine came out w/o a problem. Can’t remember but you have to push in or out to release the notches..
