This may seem like a dumb question but is there a difference between a 65 Belvedere and Belvedere II speedometer cable?

Nope, Those were just trim levels. So the cables are the same. In 65 Plymouth changed the name from low line "Savoy" to Belvedere I and the hard top to Belvedere II. My 2 door sedan is a Belvedere I.

My local parts store (which is usually pretty good with the old school parts) said that the speedo cable for the 1965 Belvedere I was a different part number from the Belvedere II

Then you have you answer. They should know.Maybe the difference between stick or auto ?

The problem is that they don't have the Belvedere II speedo cable and can't get one anymore.

As far as I know they are the same car, same body, same dash and speedo. I wonder what they think the difference is? Do they have old catalogs. They might be able to look both numbers up and compare them for length and style of ends.

If you know the length of the cable housing a place in California called "Red Line Gauge Works" can make you one. They will need to know what year transmission you are using.Or get the one for the Belvedere I. Both ends are screw on. I'll swear to you and stick to my guns that there is no difference between both the I and II.

I think you will find the same speedo cable fits both Belvedere I and II. They come in 2 lengths: 63" and 83".
Rock Auto has for under $10.

And here's the weird thing. Rock Auto lists the 65 Belvedere speedo cable but none for the Belvedere II. I'll get the cable for the Belvedere.
