Congrats on the upcoming Granddadiness! :thumbsup:

In regards to the Tesla, I have fundamental issues with the things, not the least of which is what
happened during the last administration with tax dollars - a LOT of them.
Of course, if you really want to object to electric cars, do some research on where the raw materials
come from for the batteries. It'll blow yer mind...
 
You have to respect the technology. The big dog Tesla's are only bested by serious HP fossil fuel cars in the 1/4 mile. While I am a die hard MOPAR guy, I will own one of these rigs in the future.

The worst part about a Tesla at a drag race is the silence. Everyone goes to hear the rumble..

I'm sure the trick with EV's is the same trick of fossil fuel vehicles-

Don't run it dry.

Do that on a gas car and your pretty well screwed, too.

Who would go 300 miles and then expect to plug in and be on their way for 300 more without reading the manual?

Plug it in every night.
 
I was just looking at the Tesla Super Charger map and it appears they have greatly improved charging across America and Europe. Seems like they are growing in locations.. I installed EV charging stations at Kroger locations and IKEA stores for a while. I also installed 2 Tesla Chargers in a basement garage for a Realtor in the Downtown area of Atlanta. But some of the EV stations are Proprietary for certain model cars. Now that may have changed since I have done these installations and maybe they have made some changes since then and made charging universal.
 
I forgot to mention the door handles look and operate suspiciously like Kendig handles.

I wanted to buy one until I started watching this youtube channel. Repairs only at Tesla facilities. Most accidents that look minor the Tesla gets totaled as body shops cannot get parts. Takes weeks or months to have est. from Tesla body shop. No support from Tesla to manuals and parts etc. They look cool and are way undervalued when sold to the public. They have hidden SD cards that collect all types of info on you. Congrats on your grandchild! I did not mean to rain on the Tesla purchase parade.

 
Overpriced golf carts. Door handles don’t work in cold weather. Good mostly for the libs in my neighborhood.
 
Congratulations on the Grand Baby!!! The car is an over hyped, over priced junk. Sorry for the brutal honesty. Talk to me when he needs to replace the batteries.
 
IIRC battery warranty is almost the same as the car warranty.

Agree that's the big deal with any battery powered device.

There are a LOT of cameras all over the place on the car.

Not really a comforting thing for me.

Another thing I don't like is the windows go up into the body.

You have to time pulling the handle so it goes down a bit before you push out.
From the inside that is.

From the outside it springs out after the glass goes down a bit.

My wife and I turned down a mitsu ecplise spyder because of this "feature".

I understand it helps with sealing and to a lesser extend, rigidity, but what a nightmare if that system ever screws up.

Interestingly, the car also has no door posts but has a B pillar, kind of like a 73-77 gm colonnade.
