Wilwood six piston 13 inch front brake kit 69 road runner. I am having trouble aligning the caliper caliper slide onto a studs so I don’t see any shimming possibility like all the videos I saw any insight would be great

The caliper is not centered over the rotor, is that what you are saying?

Yes the front side fit but the inside the pad is tighter at the top than it is the bottom. I will post pictures

The pad will go in but the rotor will not turn. It seems perfect at the bottom but at the top it’s tight and I had to go pull out the instructions see if I can find what I did wrong

I’m gonna go check I put this on a long time ago so I’m gonna go pull the boxes out of my storage. But the brackets that the caliper set on I don’t see it showing out in a sham up and in the bottom of him out but that’s not going to solve the issue I just got to be missing something

Maybe the mounting brackets have a specific side.Maybe i mounted them on the wrong side

Went through this a few years ago when I installed 4 piston Wilwoods all around on my 62. Since they are non floating calipers you must make sure they are centered over the rotor. You can use Wilwoods shim flat washers or I lust used stainless steel flat washers from Lowes. Just make sure after installing any shims the 2 caliper to bracket mounting bolts have at least 2 threads showing on the inside of the bracket and you torque them to spec. I just eye balled mine to center and both pads went in fine with no rotor binding. Wilwood has these detailed instructions on their web site you can print off.

Six pistons don’t mount like the four piston. The bracket mounts to the control arm with no shims the only shims go on the studs that protrude up in the piston slide over the studs so there’s no adjustment except shimming away from the rotor hat

I'm about to get Wilwood 6 piston calipers and disc brakes. 12.88 front, 12.19 rears.
The front spindles have to be stock drum spindles for the brake kit I have.

Welcome to hot rodding. Wilwood stuff often requires rework so you'll just have to figure it out. It shouldn't be too hard. You either need to add shims to move the caliper in, or you need to machine the bracket to move the caliper outboard. Before you do anything you need to triple check that you have the wheel bearings tight. You need to have the rotor tightened down before you start to adjust the caliper location.

Thanks for help
I had the exact problem with my same setup. Called them about it. Turns out that the early spindles they were getting were not machined correctly. The boss on the spindles is at the wrong height. Once they discovered it they now check each one before they send them out. I bought a newer set of spindles from them and returned mine for a refund. I wasn’t even the original purchaser of the front end! Excellent customer service to stand behind their product like that imo. Give them a call. Do not modify the wilwood stuff, its not the problem.

How tight should the brake pads be on the rotors without them being bled I can turn one with one hand the other one I have to use two hands.
