Why did the GF dump you? Because of the tornado?
Even that innocent question results in another of my never ending stories...
I went out with this girl for a few months. Never could, ummm, seal the deal, so to speak.
Close, but never, ummm, all the way.
Several of my friends had taken me aside, unaware of each other, and said that they thought that my girlfriend played for the other team, if you know what I mean. I didn’t buy it, at least not then.
So the tornado happens, girlfriend cancels, buddy drops by. What the heck, let’s go to the bar.
We’re in the bar, and I guess I’m visibly down because my girl just cancelled after I made this great meal.
This vision of loveliness approaches me. Named Christine. Now this Christine was beautiful. Like light radiated from her gorgeousness. Model gorgeous. She is prepared to fix me like I’ve never been fixed before. “No” I say, “I have a girlfriend and I don’t mess around on her.”
The next time I see girlfriend she dumps me.
That was more then thirty years ago. To this day I still regret not letting Christine have her way with me. Truly one of the ones that got away.
I swear, one of these days I’ll have a short story. I promise.
