68 dodge coronet steering column

i have a 68 coronet column shift car. not sure what this does and am I missing something ? any pixs from any one would be helpful. thanks

This has come up recently in other threads, so I'll jump in here. It is far better to have the neutral safety switch as part of the transmission. If it was part of the linkage, not working, in drive, and you were to say, jumper the solenoid under the hood with a screwdriver, bad things could follow.

What piece is missing ?
All you have in your picture is the outer tube & the reverse light switch... There's no shift tube which would have the tab that actuates the switch, theres no actual steering shaft.. Lots of stuff is missing...
 
Well since you asked... Here is an exploded view of the steering column. Enjoy. As was stated above.. You are missing lots of stuff.

Absolutely the reverse lamp switch, mine is missing the lever to make it work. I need to come up with a different way, thinking of converting to a later style at the trans

Blurry picture but this is a 1966 Belvedere column shift column. I can retake the picture if needed but just below the wires you will see the reverse light lever.
