Good morning Mopar Friends,

I am from Switzerland and hopefully in the next couple of weeks / month a new owner of a 1966 Plymouth Satellite. When time is coming and I can name a Plymouth Satellite my own I will introduce myself a bit more including pictures.

As I am a Newbee, maybe you can help me out a bit with the following questions (or do I have to open a new threat?)

- How can I find out if "my" car had a center console? And if so, which one excactly?
- which radio is that one here: Radio-AM Music Master/economy 2 W (421)? Better to install a original radio or a "new retro style"?
- what does that mean: cleaner air package (471)?

Often I see cars without a window defroster / cooler / heater. Here in Switzerland you need this because otherwise you don't receive the driving licence for the car. Any idea how I can solve this? Would a Vintage Air® - Gen II Mini Heat Cool and Defrost be a solution? Or better try to find a complete original (but I guess very expensive and hard to find) cleaner air package?

Many thanks for helping me out.

Welcome aboard and good luck getting your B body!

Welcome from Missouri!! Vintage air works, I have it. The more you spend, the better the system.

Welcome from Alabama, If your 66 Satellite is not an A/C equipped car it does have a windshield defroster with heat only. Rear defroster was air only and rare on a 66. Vintage Air & Classic Auto Air both have A/C replacement kits for that car.

Welcome aboard from Ohio.

The car should meet any of the requirements that cars of the 60`s had to meet in Switzerland.
I am not really knowledgeable about 66 Satellites. I have never seen one without a console.
Have a good time with your purchase!

welcome to FBBO

Welcome!

A few things:
  1. You may need to open a new thread to ask some of the specific questions. Go to the forum section and likely more will see it.
  2. If your car has a broadcast sheet, that will state all the options it was built with. These were put either under the carpet, under the back seat, behind glove compartment, etc. Not all cars had them, some had the wrong ones, etc.
  3. Radio is personal preference - I prefer to have one that looks original but has Bluetooth so I can enjoy more content.
  4. I believe the cleaner air package was one required in California. I do not know what that required in 1966. My 1970 Road Runner was built with an additional system to capture fuel vapors so they did not escape into the atmosphere.
  5. Very few cars were built without a heater and defroster for the front window. I would believe that your 66 likely has a heater and defroster for the front window (windshield). Few cars in 1966 had air conditioning, and I can't believe Switzerland requires air conditioning. For the rear, there were defoggers which drew air in from the package tray and blew air on the back window. You can find the pieces for these and add one if you need or want (I added one to my car).
Good luck!

If you show proof of ownership, the Chrysler Historical Society will send you information on your car, I don`t have the address at hand.
