UPS vs USPS

Something is broken at USPS lately for sure. Last number of packages have taken 10 days to get across the country to Az. The tracking says it gets stuck (usually in the Midwest) then no new updates until it hits my post office.
10 days is good!!! I had a lower valence grille for a 72-74 Cuda that was shipped Black Friday and it made it there Dec. 31st...

Won a set of 11 inch drum levers and spreader bars in a eBay auction and had them shipped. When I got the package (shipped USPS) it had a huge hole in the side. The levers were gone, but atleast the bars were in there. I didn't make a fuss with the seller because it was too little money to make a huge deal about, and it clearly wasn't his fault because the packaging job was great with a flat rate box and lots of packing tape. Postal workers must have either threw it like a baseball at a brick wall or stabbed it with a knife.
I ended up buying a pair from a member here:thankyou:and they came undamaged in 4 days from UPS.

At 11:52 AM yesterday I ordered some parts from Jim at Detroit Muscle Technologies (DMT). I have spoken with Jim and know that he does not use USPS anymore because of issues (very slow deliveries, poor tracking, etc.). He ships everything UPS. Today the parts I ordered were on my front porch. I don't know what time the parts arrived and I don't care, they were here. Now it is a fact that I live only live 2 hours away from DMT but still, the parts arrived basically overnight. So a shout out to Jim and his crew for caring enough to make sure his customers get their parts in a timely manner.
UPS. I have seen stuff sit for a week at a USPS hub. You know what they say, "If it absolutely, positively, doesn't matter when you get it. Use USPS."

Lets face it really...UPS and USPS don't do anything but billing. It is the distribution centers and the drivers that move the merchandise. Some areas have better employees than others. Just like going to the market. Some baggers know to put cold items with cold etc... some just put anything into any bag just to get done with it. Blame the Store ?
I do blame the store/company. It's called training. Apathy comes from the top down.

I had to ship my console tach to a place in Canada for circuit board repairs and a Google search said best way to ship was USPS. I asked them if they agreed and they said Oh crap - no. Their stuff goes to a customs warehouse and sits there for sometimes 90 days or more before it ever moves again. They said PLEASE - use Fed Ex or UPS - they will bring it right to our door pronto. And they did.
When given the choice, I always use FedEx.

I purchased some parts from a vendor in Georgia. He does not deal with credit cards, so I had to mail him a money order from here in Ontario. It took three weeks for him to get it. I got my parts in four days by UPS after he received payment.

I ordered 2 pieces from a company on OK, it went to WI and stalled there for 2 weeks before coming back south again to me in Iowa.
Also about had a late credit card payment, sent it in 2 weeks before due. Got a notice 2 days before overdue that it wasn't paid. Had to make a online payment from my checking account to avoid late/interest charges. USPS

They all had unparalleled delays between Thanksgiving and seriously through the holidays season, and with USPS , clear through February....
The nation's snow and ice storms in February played even more havoc with scheduling.

We know to try and send everything into Canada via USPS, because of the massive fees otherwise.

UPS is clearly the best and the most on time deliveries by far.
Fed Ex is acceptable, but they have many more delays
with their famous "on the way to the destination"...

Those "If it fits, it ships" USPS boxes stole a lot of business from UPS and FedEx --- and CAN be a lot cheaper Coast-to-Coast and to Hawaii and Puerto Rico, for sure !!!! (Except between November and February in coronavirus times, when they got bombarded and overwhelmed...)
...If near 50 pounds, must go UPS or FedEx....

Bottom line more than ever.... GOOD LUCK !!!!!!

(USPS) I ordered part from another member, its been stuck in Florida since the 22nd last month this sucks i really need it and its a hard to find part for me at a good price. I filled claim today and they said i need to wait 30 days.
Last year, a FBBO member bought a sway bar from me. I wasn't advertising one, I just answered a WTB ad. It was taking a LONG time to arrive and I felt bad for the guy. The USPS site kept showing IN TRANSIT or some other bullshit. This was just ground shipping so I didn't expect a 2 day delivery across the country but a MONTH to go from CA to Michigan???
I pulled the sway bar from my project car and sent that one to him. I wasn't going to use it since I plan to use a larger size. The second package arrived within 5 days. The first package somehow arrived a week later.
Great service, people!

And all the delays were their own fault! They didn’t hire enough people, piss poor management, period!

Speaking from personal experience, UPS all the way. I have had nothing but grief with USPS and FedEx; to hell with 'em both. My favorite, is when FedEx passes the parcel off to the USPS for final delivery, that way you're almost guaranteed a complete clusterf**k of an experience. UPS' service, which i have been experiencing since 1987, has been exceptional.

USPS does "last mile" service for Amazon and Ebay, who have basically blown them out of the water. Combine that with a gigantic uptick in online sales because of COVID, and you have the perfect storm. Then we actually HAD some historic storms! The USPS is buried, and so are all the other carriers. Don'T expect it to get better any time soon.

Lack of quality people and this is what you get... USPS in particular has become a "welfare" hiring program and there service has gone down ever since...
Like Coca Cola, USPS is now "less white".....

USPS is shipping a package from AZ. It left Phoenix on the the 3rd, went to Tucson and now back in Phoenix. Why a Federal employee doesn’t get **** canned for screwing this up is beyond me. Start setting an example and shipping will get better.

Ive had both good and bad luck with them all

USPS, I have a friend that is a residential mail carrier in Des Moines.
Parks his jeep at the end of a block and walks down one side and back on the other.
Gets in his jeep goes to his next block reloads his bag and goes again.
I asked him what had happened to the postal system ?
He says nobody gives a **** anymore and it's not just the postal service.
He said back 15 years ago ( yep he's getting close ) little old ladies would give out cookies ect to the carriers now they just give out a *** chewing cause their latest infomercial gadjet is late arriving.
He told me anyone wants to bitch about service go right ahead. It really speeds him up.

Just bought a small part from Illinois to Pennsylvania shipped the 11th arrived here yesterday the 21st this was sent USPS.... No-one wants to work is the problem...
