Words our parents said....

“you don’t have to be the smartest in the bunch, just don’t be the dumbest”.

“Dumber than a box of rocks”.

“they must be a few crayons short of a full box”.

“I’m not going to ask again, the next sound you’ll hear is my belt whistling”.

"I should have pulled out"
(Not true)

My grandma's favorite words to me..

Your enough to make a preacher cuss!

You damn dirty cusset cur!

And if I dare ask for a kiss... You can kiss my *** was the reply.

Sweet lady lol.

My Maternal Grandmother , Dora, was a pistol. She had 13 kids and ran a huge farm by herself when Grandpa died in the aftermath of WW2. The Colonel left her in dire straights. She was a hard woman. In her old age, like in her late sixties to early seventies, she would watch us kids while our parents were off riding motorcycles all over the country. We played a lot of cards. If we took to long on our turns she would pierce us with a blistering squint eyed glare and clear her throat before saying,," Hurry it up kid, my crops are dying here..." plus many other farm related expressions...Very funny. She was tough but she let us do stuff our parents didn't. She believed in experience being the best teacher, even if it hurt.

My dad still uses the phrase 'give me a b-back'
huh
supposed to be a call back, or get back in touch with me

I never got that one
I don't know if the people he always & still says it to
did/does either

'Back in my day'

we had to walk 10 damn miles to school
in the snow, with no shoes & uphill both ways

"Hold'er Nute, she's a rour'in! " Mom said Dad brought that back from the South Pacific. USAAC.

our family always said “give me a buzz back”. Bees buzz so I guess that’s an explanation.

Me: Dad can I go outside?
