A friend had a bad weekend

I feel for him, I’m sure it stinks . Let us know how insurance company treats him! More happy to hear EMT mode still kicked in for him...

It's agreed value through American Collectors.... We'll see... So far he's made a few calls & can't find a shop that is interested in working on it....

I know a guy in West Sac who might be interested. PM me if your friend wants to come this far. He is pretty familiar with Camaros.

Honestly, your buddy got the best of both worlds!
Sue the bastard for driving to fast for conditions, failure to yield, or whatever.
Sue the County/State for failure to maintain proper roads from hazards! This is no different than hitting a pothole and causing a accident! Good luck to your buddy! Fuckin CA.

That sucks

hope they both recover completely
soreness can lead to something worse too

I always liked those years of Pontiacs,
Firebirds, Trans Ams, Formulas

hopefully, the insurance takes care of it
the person who rear-ended him is 100% at fault

Glad no one was seriously hurt. Sorry for your friends, the car, and the kid. We've all done something stupid in our youth. I've been reading an article in Muscle Machines where a guy bought a Trans Am and it was so rusty they ended up grafting two cars together. I think they got the donor from Desert Valley.

Sorry for your friends car. Glad he and his Dad are not injured... People are idiots I had a guy backing up a hill on a 90 degree turn in my lane going the wrong way after a rain... Destroyed my 98 Ram 2500 Long bed... I hit him and pushed him off in a ditch in the other lane. I unhooked the trailer and drove it home like that with the cop following me. Guy said he saw something out for trash and thought he could use it and that normally not many people drive on this back road so he thought he was Ok doing it...

I hesitated to respond here in the same way that I don't like to chat about vasectomies, prostate surgeries, cheating spouses or drug use. I know those things happen but I don't like thinking about it.
I really LOVE the GM F body cars.
I have owned 9 of them.
I hate to see a classic car get wrecked. It is a shame to see them survive for years and just get destroyed in an instant.
Hopefully there were no injuries and that the car can be repaired.

Priority is your friend & his dad's health. 84 yr old's body can not take jolts like we can (dad is 79). Hope they remain healthy long term. Car, "...we can rebuild it, better, stronger, faster..."

His dad & he are both in a lot of pain... Both planning to go to the ER, may already have been by now... He's found a shop that does allot of classic & muscle car stuff that has accepted the job... Now it's a matter of seeing what the insurance does...

Sorry to hear about the crash - looks like a nice car. Most important thing is everyone is basically OK. Machines can be fixed or replaced, people can't.

I think what you outlined above is the key. It seems like it is damn hard to find good restoration shops who can do this kind of work, and do it honestly and well. It also seems that the good ones have 1-2 year waits before the car is even touched.

Hoping they experience long term good outcomes health wise and the car can be fixed. **** happens, that's why we have insurance. Been there, done that. More than once.

I like those Firebirds, neighbors had a 455SD T/A 4 speed car.

Hope they get the car and their own bodies fixed quickly.

Sorry to read about this and hope it works out alright.
What a shame.

Sad to see that happen to your friend, his dad, and his sweet Firebird! My friend took his 23k mile 70 Firebird out this weekend and we went for a nice cruise! The weather was perfect. His car is a 350 4 speed car. I hope that they fix your friends car,and that he recovers okay!
