In a nutshell, it says American sports cars from the 80's and 90's are not increasing in price. Japanese and German cars are. It's that demographic after the Boomers. No Mopars in the article but interesting anyway. It said the 3000 GT is going up so I guess that's the Stealth too. The one exception was the fourth-gen Firebird/Trans Am.

It used to be what car posters you had on the wall now it's what cars in a video game you liked.

Remember the Dodge commercial that said I bet a kid never had a poster of a passat on his wall.
 
I briefly considered a latter C4 Corvette at one time. They are available, affordable, fun to drive and there are some good examples out there today.
Same thing with 5.0 Fox bodied Mustangs
The bottom line is anything that keeps folks in the hobby is a good thing
 
Viper prices seem to be rising as well. I remember ten years ago, looking at Craigslist and seeing ten Vipers for under $40,000. Lately, there are fewer of them, and the prices start at $65,000.
 
Gotta say, the 1995 C4 Corvette I had was a fun car. It had 166K on it when I traded it off. I put maybe $3K in it (tires, powder-coated stock wheels, major ignition work), but the air was icy-cold, it had very few rattles and no shakes. It was tight, the targa top never leaked, the windows worked, and even the trouble-prone Bose sound system was 100% original and worked brilliantly. I put a new headliner in it, too. For a car that I had a little over $4K initially, I really can't gripe at all about that car. I did get tired of punk-asses wanting to race me on the freeway, though. I just wanted to enjoy the drive!

I'd love to have a 2nd-gen Supra, a Chrysler Conquest/Mitsubishi Starion, or maybe a final-year Dodge Daytona or IROC. All are fun cars, no doubt.
 
One writer's opinion doesn't make a trend

I do agree with some of it

especially the Trans Am trend

Gen 4 Vetts are cheap, dirt cheap for the most part
$10k or less will get you a decent car
they do drive & handle well, lots of them out there too
lots of aftermarket support, it is a Chevy after all
no exactly rare

but price drives a majority of the hobby
lots of people that only care about prices

it is what it is
