I am looking at a Mr. Gasket daul point dist of FB MP. 440 and new. Has tach drive. Any ideas on value? He want 100 bucks? I would like to grab it for my nostalgia clone if worth it??

Sounds reasonable. What kind of points does it use?

If it’s old and made in the USA it maybe worth it, otherwise all the Mr Gasket stuff I’ve dealt with is Chinese and not impressive for the money. IMO I know the thermostats are absolutely terrible... My buddies stuck shut, blew the hose on the highway and he hit the ditch due to the antifreeze , thank god no damage .

Not sure but I will ask some questions. Its new but may be old stock??

This is like biting into a rotten peach and concluding that all fruit is bad !!

Could be. It isn't worth much if you can't get parts for them. (probably why it's for sale) Accel used GM points in many of their dual points. Who knows what condenser rotor and cap s they used though. Probably not mainstream Mopar parts. Good luck finding parts especially for something as oddball as a Mr Gasket. Accell and Mallory were the popular ones to buy back in the day.

What's the likelihood you'll need parts for it in your lifetime ?!?!?

Sounds like I should steer clear of it. I will pass. Who does make a good one. I assume Prestolite. I am just looking to build a nostalgia looking street car. Old school looks but want it reliable.

A original Prestolite can be rebuilt and all parts can be gotten from @HALIFAXHOPS here on the site.

Is it cast iron or aluminum

You can always use a points style distributor and install a pertronix conversion.
Run a 9.5 plate in , it will leave you room for a good initial setting and then play with your springs and vac can to get it dialed in for your engine.

I have seen them think accell madse them for Mr. G and also Napa, reay a colectabe to me.
