I generally find it hard to believe that these cars actually do exist out there still. I Just found this one and my friend bought it! ORIGINAL paint, RUST free car, purchased from the original owner, dealer order form, and dealer invoice, three NON-MATCHING build sheets (St. Louis car) which I hear is common? - will post those numbers soon in case someone else out there has his build sheet, and great documentation…

Has 5 ployglas RWL tires from 1972 included with it, with lots of tread actually!

EV2 with Tan Bucket and console interior, 440 Auto of course and runs amazing! Literally a Day two Realistic 8 track mounted under the dash. The car is an amazing time warp and a great find. I’m so happy for my buddy who bought it!

Great score!
All 1970 Chargers were built in St Louis.

I didn’t know that, thanks.
I Was also referring to the fact that I’ve heard wrong build sheets put in the wrong cars happened a lot at St. Louis too, or is that just a wives tale?

Had a 70 440 RT Challenger convertible and dug out one of the build sheets just for a keep sake when I sold the car but looked it over good AFTER selling the car. The BS was for a /6 convertible! Oh well.....

My red 70 came with 2 build sheets from different '70 Chargers. Strange!

This R/T has 3 sheets from two different chargers. One 383 2 barrel car the other a 318 car. These were sheets that the original owner dug out. I’m going to help have a look in the places I know to look and see if a correct one may hopefully be in there somewhere

Where are known common spots to look for build sheets on a 70 charger?

congrats to your buddy, still looking for one myself.

From what I hear, they are often found under the carpet, atop the glove box, above the headliner and woven into the rear seat springs. A plausible explanation that has been given is that these sheets were considered trash so they were just stuffed into cars along the assembly line to keep the work area clean. The workers were just building the "appliances" of the day and never thought these cars would be collectible. Imagine dismantling a 2029 Hyundai in 2077 and getting excited about seeing anything like a build sheet!

Guy I bought my GTX from had a '70 Charger 383 before it, it carried a build sheet for a triple black Hemi Charger. Unfortunately, a search revealed the car had long ago gone to the crusher.

WOW! Nice find....was is listed for sale or one of those word of mouth finds?

Beautiful car, we need more pic's! Why were they selling the car?

When a tore my '70 charger apart, I also had 3 build sheets. 1 for this car and the other 2. They were not consecutive vin #s, not even close. As Kern said it was built in St. Lou. Makes you wonder what the hell was going on in that plant. mine and 1 other was ff4 paint, while the 3rd was ef8 which is a darker green.

My younger brother (had) a 70 RT-SE Charger. He bought it from the son of the dealership owner. It had a 440 / 4 speed w/ police Interceptor engine, I believe they have an X in the serial number. I could be wrong. That sure is a beauty that your friend got!

If you're talking about the vin number, All '70 charger vins started with an X. For '70 it was either XH, XP, or XS depending on the model of charger.
