Ramchargers Magniesium Dana 60

The one I installed in the Cuda is powered by this with an 18 spline behind it. We have sticky tires on it with lots of abuse, no actual slicks though just street slicks. Greg bought it about seven years ago. Tubes are steel.

Good to hear it has held up strong. Once I gave them my last 10th call and email, I was done trying to bark up that tree. It looks like it never caught traction in the racing world or it's just too expensive for most out there on a budget. I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 4K or so all ready to rock and roll.
 
It was around that much. They gave us good service but I agree it never caught on. Cool piece but $2k extra to shave 50lbs in the back end doesn't make much sense for most.

You are correct, most people won't fetish over such an exotic housing even if the benefits of its unsprung weight removal have been proven. Your friend probably has one of only a few of those production housings.

I'm one that likes to lighten the load and getting rid of 50 lbs from an axle for 2k isn't that bad of a deal......well, it may have been back when it was offered.

Honestly, I would have sprung for it if only they would have given me some real world answers as to durability and strength. I guess it was just too soon in the product development, so in absence of such, I suggested my car as a test mule (I was racing more back then) to give them some real world feedback and also some great publicity in the feature article. It wasn't attractive to them.
It could be that this start up company didn't have the loot to build further than a few units or even that prototype without a flood of orders, allegedly making Runcharger's unit a 1 of 1 or 1 of some.
Now that we know that it has some relatively respectful strength behind an elephant and a STICK, it could possibly have worked in any car with an automatic.

Also they might have been a bit leery of possible liability issues with letting someone do some testing for them if something with the rear end went wrong even though people back then weren't suing the socks off of everyone like nowadays......
 
My Carlton built Aspen prostocker, had one. It was a Henry's. Same piece.

The worst part of the design, is the threaded bolt-holes. They're not real strong, and not easily fixed or upgraded. Mine leaked, and we had to thru-bolt/nut the axle-tubes to center-chuck, where possible. It didn't leak anymore, but I know after time I believe it would have. I supposed it could have been o-ringed or something, but.....

Searching this subject on Magnesium Dana's I found this 2 yr old thread a few days ago. If I've remembered correct there were 4 disused in this thread except for however many the company that fullmetaljacket mentioned had. So here's another one.

Mark Williams seems to know how to make it work with a 12 bolt or a 9"
Funny how they didn't produce that modular in a Dana arrangement.
