My 426 Hemi! I bought new aluminum heads for my 472 Crate Hemi,so I have the brand new iron heads from the crate engine. I have the crank, and two sets of rods. I have a Mod Man intake and carbs. I have valve covers. I have a cam and lifters speced to work with the mod man intake. I don't have the rocker arms and push rods though.

I was 17 back in the early 70's and worked at the Phillips 66 station on the weekends. A friend of mine would rent the hoist out on the weekend for a few bucks. He brought his friend's 68 Hemi Roadrunner in for a little tune up and clutch adjustment. He got done and Duck threw me the keys. I got it out on the street, mashed the gas and side stepped the clutch, power shifted second and held on tight. No fear for a 17 year old and I drove it like I did with my HP 273 Dart. No mercy! Damn that thing was an animal. I was shaking like a dog shittin' peach seeds when I got out. What a great memory!

Spent the day doing some much needed , cleaning and detailing

Ive got near three full days just with a clay bar in my hand on the outside of the car. Oh what fun. But it looks MUCH better

Also 426 Street Wedge Day. This is one I had in a 1964 Polara 500 I once owned. Fitted with 1962 Chrysler 300H carbs and intake.

440 dressed up as 426 Street Wedge with 1964 chrome valve covers and air cleaner. Painted red as all Canadian V-8's were. It was not available in Canada, as 383 4-barrel was largest optional engine. It is in my 1964 Polara.

And finally, as close as I'll ever get to owning one:

Yeah, you braggarts....I have TWO also!

You either have a Hemi or wish you did!
There was a time in my history that could be true...
The premium attached to such a thing has long since not made bragging rights worth the trip, however.

So here is the question I have been pondering for about a year now. I have the 426 Hemi engine that I have been gathering up parts to build. I was planning to put it in my 71 Cuda. The car is a 340 automatic car that the original drivetrain is long gone from. I was planning the Hemi engine, a Tremic 5 speed transmission and a Dana 60 for the car with a shaker hood. My friend has a 66 Charger Hemi, automatic roller that was a former drag car. The body is uncut and super solid. He already told me that he is not going to build
the car, because the value of these cars is far less than the cost of restoration on these cars, especially when you have to figure in the cost of finding a Hemi engine and rebuilding it. So which car should I put the Hemi engine in, stick with my plan of building the 71 Hemicuda clone,or buy and build the 66 Hemi Charger?
