Second bolt from firewall on the drivers side.

Ok, I brought my Charger home yesterday and got it running. I then tried filling it with coolant and found a leak. It seems the coolant is coming out of the second hole near the firewall. Its a 383 and the exhaust manifold is much deeper at that location. So I tried a 3 1/2" 3/8 24 bolt only to find out its no good. So what the hell do I need for that hole. Thanks guys.
 
They are coarse thread in the head studs with fine thread for the manifold nuts.
So 3/8" - 18
If you don't plan to remove the manifold, drain the system and clean the threads in the head and use thread sealant then I would suggest teflon tape on the bolt or stud you plan to install.
*But the hard way is how I would recommend.

Show some pictures.
 
You really need to take the manifold off. See what's going on. Then you need the deep shank nut specifically for that hole.

Need sealer on the threads. That bolt/ stud goes into the coolant area. I think.
Yes it seems to go into coolant. When I tried to full up on coolant in came out of that hole. Only problem for me it whatever was there is missing. I tried to put in a 3 1/2" 3/8 24 thread bolt, but it is not wide enough. I'm seeing sleaves on some websites, what's that all about, is that what I need?

It's 3/8-18.. NOT fine 24. Talking the head threaded hole, not the long manifold NUT.. which is fine thread. I've bolted them on in my teens with a long bolt and a big washer!

Ok, maybe someone must have changed those studs then. I took off one of the nuts from one of the studs and it matched for a 3/8 24. If you look up this part on Classic Industries mp700170, That sleave does say its a 3/8 24. I will have to keep looking.
 
Read... Head is course thread, nut side of an OE stud is fine thread. You stated you tried to put a 3/8-24 BOLT in there, that would suggest your head had no stud in it.

Yup, there is no stud.

Ok, now I get what your saying. Now I have to find that bolt, I know Autozone only has 3/8 16 and 3/8 24 and not 18.
 
Stick a wire down the manifold hole. and see the depth. Add another 1/2" for threads and a washer under the head. That'll get you by for now..and some sealant on the threads.

The 4” was too long, gonna have to get a shorter one tomorrow. It did stop the leak, so I’m god to go for now. Let me ask you something else. The owner before died young and I bought it from the estate. He didn’t finish allot of stuff. He left two wires disconnected from the alternator. A pink one and a green one. Where does the pink one go? I would show you a picture, but when I try and download it, for some real it’s saying it’s too big.
 
That's your temp sensor wire
That’s what I figured. He put an Edelbrock intake and had no place to put it. I connected the green wire to the field on the alternator and it’s still not charging. Gonna change that too. The car sat for years.
 
Temp sender is behind the alternator bracket, accessible thru the hole in the bracket. There or top of water pump housing..
 
A piece of all-thread rod with a nut and tube sleeve long enough to get the nut outside of the manifold recess would get you by (sealant on the threads into the cylinder head of course).
