Defogger/ Convertible Switch Mystery?

I have a 70 Road Runner that did not come with a factory rear defogger. I added one and put a "custom" switch to run it.

In trying to get a factory defogger switch I made a spur of the moment purchase of a switch P/N 2947262. The below picture is off the internet but this is the switch that I have (minus the button on the end that says "TOP" - I have no button on mine).

The other side of the button (that I don't have) says "R. WIND".

In researching this, it appears that this is a pretty rare/ uncommon switch used for convertible cars with a rally dash and a rear defogger.

In a thread from 2013, @69Coronetrt displayed the following picture showing the location for 1969 and 1970.

My user manual seems to corroborate the above picture for the defogger switch.

Does anyone know what the function of this switch was? It has 3 total positions, and if indeed it was for a convertible with rear defogger, what did it do? Was it perhaps used for EITHER a rear defogger or convertible top lift?

Thanks in advance for any details folks might have.

My understanding is the rear defogger has 3 speeds and the top switch is a smooth operation for the top. Think the label was 2 sided depending on with you had option for. Chryslers way of saving money and flipped tab depending again on option (70 thing)

A convert and station wagon rear window switch are momentary, and the same AFAIK.
Rear defogger have speeds. And no reverse.

Same knob. Top group of numbers is for the rear defogger. Lower group is for the convertible top.

These guys are correct. The knob itself is reversible. Convertibles never had rear window defoggers (fyi). That location is correct for a convertible top mechanism & “probably” the same location for a defogger switch (?)

Agreed, where would a convert defogger go??
And yes my buddy has a 70 charger with the defog in that position

@HawkRod not rare or unusual.

Defogger switch has off low high, so 3 clicks total. It will stay where you put it. that's what you have based on the wire colors.

Top switch is spring loaded to the center. It can be pushed forward or pulled back and it returns to center when released. Each switch has different color wires. Top switch has red and yellow wires.

There is no such thing as a 69 or 70 mopar convertible with a rear defogger. All 1970 b-bodies use that same switch and mounting position for standard and rally dash, and rear defogger, rear window, and convert top. The 1969 put it there on rally dash only.

The knob is dual duty so one part number fits all switches, just turn it around.

Possibly convertible top and station wagon rear window switch? Each would have up and down with off in the centre. Is it spring loaded?

It's clear as day, his wire color tell us it's a defroster switch.
White
Black
Light green

Top switch and rear window both use same colors
Red
Yellow
Brown

Someone with a parts book can verify if it's the same switch.

I posted the switch numbers above. The number he ordered is correct for the rear defogger. He just needs a knob.
