Not really sure about how I feel about this. On the one hand, it was destroyed due to Police confiscation resulting from a criminal street racing case, and was done so properly according to the article. On the other hand, why??? A great new generation muscle car that was destroyed for just being there and driven. Sell it/auction it off to help with PD budget and expenses, and keep it alive. The Hellcat's journey to destruction began at the 2024 Street Rod Nationals, where it was confiscated by Louisville police. According to authorities, the vehicle was found to contain stolen parts, including its most valuable component: the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI engine that gives the Hellcat its legendary performance.

Yeah, it is a shame to see a novel vehicle destroyed. IMO the stolen parts inserted made a case for destruction. Insurance companies would not insure it and good luck getting a title. If trying to part it, another cost factor involved and bad idea selling stolen parts. Who knows what else was screwed up with ‘modifying’ it. They could have given it to the FD for training purposes.

With all the bullshit going on in cities with punks closing up intersections for drifting, I’m a fan of vehicle confiscation with a jail sentence.

Appreciate the added info on this...I know it's from MSN, but when sadly my homepage is YAHOO due to my email and having been with them for now 20 plus years, it's kinda hard not to click on something like this and not knowing it's faked written, omitted info, or what. Do they crush guns that shoot people? That would be a great thing! I know gun people say that guns don't shoot people; people do. Same with musclecars; cars don't street race. People do!
 
Too bad there wasn’t some way for the police to sell the parts and make the victims of the thefts whole. That’s if they even knew who they were?

could have done something with the parts,
someone could use, for a/any better purpose, make a lil' coin too
(maybe for toys for tots etc) reg. charity drives for LEOs/FDs
even if the parts were stollen,
as long as if the insurance company paid it off,
if not refund the $$ to the former owner
or donate it in their name for a tax writeoff
&/or donate it to a LEOs charity
there's always something that can be done, better then crushing them
now if it was a car/truck they made millions of, I can see saying just crush it

gotta' be worth $20k in parts
seems a lil' dumb, a waste
I understand too, but don't have to like it

When I used to go to auctions ran by counties usually (police even)
& wholesale dealers deals,
some junk is worth a tone, in parts alone

This was the case in many municipalities but it lead to widespread abuse where the cops would phony up charges, confiscate cars for their personal use or pocket the sale money.
 
Crush it! Can’t use ill gotten goods for good purpose. Muddies the waters.
 
They didn't crush it all they way down to where the engine couldn't be saved.
