As you can see in the pictures the control arms, spindles & struts are all painted black. So somebody was in here previously. I'm pretty sure it was my dad, he was a penny pincher so he probably only replaced what was needed, usually the bushings and lower ball joints & maybe a couple tie rod ends. This time it wll get all new NORS USA made ball joints, pitman, idler, rod ends, upgraded (newer design) strut bushings and control arm bushings. New bump stops too cause they are trashed.
Brother Craig at mobileparts can hook you up on the items needed for the rebuild. I got quite a pile of goodies from him for my 67 wagon. Getting started on the majority of it tomorrow.
Back at it, more fun stuff . . . cleaning parts. Step 1 - clean off oil, grease & dirt. Step 2 - remove old paint with paint remover. Step 3 - soak parts in my vinnegar, lemon juice & salt soup.

And after - now ready for new bushings, ball joints and fresh paint -
I'm going to upgrade to a bigger sway bar for this car. I got a good price on a used Summit 1 1/8 sway bar for it but my lower control arms have the link brackets in the wrong spot. I wish I could just swap control arms from my other '66 Coronet (it has the correct brackets) but that would be way too much work. After I got the drivers side control arm cleaned up it was time for modifications - cut old one off.
I bought these brackets from Hotchkis - all I need to do now is weld it on.
