Garage stench after parking car - does non-ethanol help?

Several years ago on a fuel vapor lock/boiling discussion here, one of the Cal gents mentioned that the then current pump fuel 2016?, had a boiling point of 150*. Think about that. What do you imagine the underhood temps are, along with coolant temp/airflow etc, when it's running and then shut off? And the ethanol added fuel seem to generate quite a bit more vapor due to that than non.

The fuel does seem to boil easily here, it causes hot start issues with my Ranchero and with my old Vette before I swapped it to EFI. So far the Coronet seems ok probably due to a lot of air flow compared to the other cars.

Answer to your question, no, switching non-ethonal fuel will not stop the smell. Most of the answers here are what guys do to work around that.

I posted a similar response a few years ago in another thread -- Because of the open tank vents on pre-73? cars, I put a carbon canister on the floor plugged into the two tank vents, and garage no longer stinks like lawn mowers from the car. I disconnect the tank vent tube hoses at tank and new hoses to a y connector and that to a carbon canister tank vent input for long storage. I hook it back up when I plan on driving it. I've been doing this for about six years on different cars. Someday I might retrofit a car to have a carbon canister but I can't bring myself to do it and its a 5 minute fix to put back to stock. There is the smell from the carb bowl as well, but that goes away after a few hours. The big smell is the tank vents. Did I ever notice this back in the day with car ports and open parking lots? Nope. Anyway, works for me, but recently I only plug in the canister during the winter season.

I am with the no odor crowd, both cars are 71s, we always run 91 no ethanol, I'm guessing because both have excellent vapor recovery systems for the time. I changed the tank in the 71, the evap hoses were shot!

I also open the hood to cool down after a drive. Seems to help with starting the next time and cuts the odor from percolation in the bowls. I get grief every day from the wife about carburetor smell, I have tried everything and have largely given up. I might look at reconnecting the EVAP system for the gas tank in my car it is 1970 California spec.

Yes, the alcohol used in modern fuels evaporates easier/faster than gasoline fumes do.
It also has less energy (BTU's) than straight gas, leading to lower fuel economy to produce the same power.

My particular case:
Never have lingering "raw" fuel smell in the garage, which is a detached structure (many reasons, that being
one of them) housing both Fred and the wife's 2012 Charger R/T.
I never use "blend" gas in Fred - he insists on the pure stuff - but the wife's car runs on the typical for this
area 90/10 stuff.
There is a bit of strong exhaust smell when first arriving from a drive with Fred (his carb has been junk for
years, but I never replaced it, just kept it working best I could), but the garage is less than hermetically
sealed, so that probably helps with that.

I've been using non ethanol 90 since it became available close to home and close to the shop I retired from. My garage is small and under my house.Non ethanol may help a little but not much in my opinion. Sometimes I leave the car sit in the driveway a while before I bring it in,sometimes leave the door up,in the real hot summer I run a fan for a while.
If it sits a few days the Edelbrock will be empty no matter what fuel.
