Tis the Season. I believe this train is from Canada and travels across the boarder into some of the upper States.

First coat of black, mixed with Iridescent gravite. Three more dry brushing coats of three shades of gray and a burnt umber. The white plaster areas and pink will be painted brown, then dirt, grass and trees will be added. The mountain will continue all the way to the back corner, to the waterfall. Makes little sense looking at it now, but hopefully it will come to life.
I bought these ridiculous weeping willows so I could cut them up to make ivy. I super glue them end to end. They'll hang over the edge alone the edges. I'll paint some of them a lighter green.

Canadian Pacific (CP) recently bought Kansas City Southern (KCS).
KCS was a North/South line from IIRC Ilinois, all the way to, again IIRC New Orleans/Texas.
Also into Mexico-
The new name is CPKC.

I found my thread.
I have been arguing with myself as to whether I should put money into model railroad or not.
It would take money away from the mopars.... but it's only money and a thousand bucks will go really far in this hobby.... but that's money I could use to put disk brakes on the GTX. ...

I've seen you playing a bass.
That's another potential money eating hobby.
Add vintage audio gear, and you've got most of my hobbies...all potentially big time money eaters.
...and now Legos with the grandkids.
I recently paid $80 for a 1979 LL924 Space Cruiser to complement our modern Space kit collection.
...and it was by far the cheapest of any listed for months. Typical price $150.
It was the very first "Space" kit.
That's another potential money eating hobby.

I would never stop doing this because of the money, in my case, a thousand bucks was a nice start. I had no idea that me being interested in dioramas would turn into an investment. LOL. I enjoy the diorama as much, if not more than the trains. My problem is, when I get bored with it and move on, it's going to have to be taken apart and go to the neighbors for his son. I will say, I have the tendency to go over the edge with everything I do. Make a list of what you want, or need, check cost and then see if this is for you. Also, my layout is 12 by 8 and half that much again to store all the crap that is needed, or that I bought. It takes up space, fortunately, this house will never see a finished basement in my lifetime and it's a walk out. I enjoy the small tedious detailed work and the end results. Well, I'm doing my best, perfect, never!! LOL. Enjoy!!

In the last 4 years MRR prices on a lot of stuff have gone through the roof.
OTOH, I went to a show last weekend (tis the season) and scored some interesting things.
Picked up a scale "wheel lathe" for my roundhouse. Never seen one before.
..and a Rivarossi pass car for 10 bucks. Vendors have jacked those up and are trying to justify prices similar to new Walthers/BLI/Rapido cars in the close to/over 100 dollar range.
